:newb: here! Please help with parts.

My new X SS came this Tuesday. I have not started putting it together yet. I want to get some hop-ups first. What I have come up with so far is this. BTW I have coming this Monday for the radio is Spektrum DX3.0. The 3-speed transmission will be here next week. Money is not the problem, but me not knowing for sure if these parts are for sure the right ones is, and if there is anything else I need to get for them to work or are there better ones.

Hitec HS-5955TG Digital Titanium Servo for the steering. Thought about the JR Z9000T

Foam inserts for the tires. Not sure what to get. I hear Pro-line but not sure as to the size and should I get the firm ones or in between firm and soft

I am also need this Ofna linkage mod for the throttle/brake but cannot be sure just what I need for parts or where to get them.

Now for the hump-pack. Looking at this.

With this connector.

I understand that this will not fit where it should go but can be put up front by or on the front shock tower. Need to know is their one as good or better that will fit in the right place. Been told with me using 3 servos I don't have much room for this big one.

I need to hit the buy button some time Thursday for what I have above.

After this I will be doing all the suspension and so forth. Then the power plant and drivetrain.

Thanks for any and all help I can get. I intend to take this build as far as I can. Please help me Trick my Truck. I am more interested in seeing just how much of a monster I make out of this, than going out and bashing.

I got an ofna 1400 hump pack, it fits snug but i have room for it.
you need this slider in what ever color you want.

I would recomend getting an aluminum servo arm for the throttle servo. you can use the stock linkage rods or go to the hobbie shop and get air plain rod's and make your own.
you can check my ride out on this forum, but I have a better thread here

sry it's at savageracer hope i don't get in trubble for this, a little better write up. Have to bail to work later hope ya find this usefull

what do u plan on useing the turck for????? (raceing or bashing)
If money isn't an issue look at a new engine like the axiel or surefire .32

the hitec 5955tg servo is a beast. got one for my new revo project. probably overkill but why not!!

you don't need the ofna linkage, you can easily modify the stock ones to work better and easier.

not sure if that hump pack will have enough protection stuck to a shock tower?

Ordered the parts in the first post today but the huimp pack. Still working on that.

Mondragon I have no hobbie shops near me. I live in the deep south south and they pump sun light down here. :)

runoverbysavage going to see how far I can take this truck with hop-ups. I will have fun with it, but as far as me going out bashing it real hard I rather build. I sure this is just my first truck of many.

polystyrene I am real interested in modify the stock linkage.

Keep the ideals coming.

Thanks everyone.

if you wana go all out get titanium tvp's and skidplate covers. not gona break them in a hurry. you can also get titanium arms.

all the nova products seem to go down well. lots of good feedback by people.

proline 40 series wheels/tyres are nice. i have moabs which are huge but not heavy and bowties which are good. prob gona get some mulchers at some point too.

everybody seems to like doing these mid tank mods for a conversion on there savage. seems pretty straight forward most of them.

So what your saying is its just going to sit not drove much (please have fun with it and drive the thing will ya) jezzz

I intend to drive and have fun lot's of fun............

good to hear, a sav is made to be abused BIGTIME.
get it up on the ramp, it`s big fun, I can assure you.
if you want more speed & power maybe the nova coolinghead is an option, your engine will run a lot cooler and you can run it a bit leaner without overheating.
however, don`t lean it out too much, check if there`s enough white smoke coming out of the exhaust.
with a nova head you can easily overlean your engine without overheating it.
if you want to lean it out any further you`ll need a higher nitro content (30-35% instead of 20-25%) and a higher oil content.
I use(d) tornado 25% and it has 12% oil in it, when you want to lean it out any further you might wanna use around 15% oil
when I`m finished rebuilding my truck I`m gonna give the tornado 35% a try, I don`t exactly know the oil content of the 35% but I thought it was around 16%

also ditch the stock fuel tank and replace it by a buggy tank, if you do this you`ll find out that your engine will tune much easier and runs a lot cooler & faster.
I myself was very surprised about the difference in performance when I replaced my stock tank with a nitro MT-2 tank

Have received verything ordered last week but the super hot shot 2, hump-pack and foam inserts. It"s been a hoot putting it together.

The wheels and tires have to go. Been taking a lot of photos as I am doing the build.

trashard, thanks for the heads up on the tank.

Thanks for all the input on the parts, keep them coming.
