Savage X SS 4.6 kit questions.

I went ahead & bought my Savage X SS now, along with the Ofna linkage mod(should be here by the weekend) instead of waiting for Christmas. I have a few questions though. First does the kit come with shock oil, if not what brand & weight is recommended? Second are the diffs prefilled, again if not, what brand & weight? Third are the red fiber brake disks better than the stainless ones. I don't plan to do any hardcore bashing until spring when I can get out & about to find some bashing sites.

well, the diffs are greased. the fider brakes are much worse than ss

Are you sure that the diffs are greased & not oiled? Why are the fiber worse than the ss?

fiber discs break ss ones are way tougher. I use grease in all my diffs also. less chance of it leaking out

Thanks Jam. Do you use standard wheel bearing grease or what? Also do you use any grease in the tranny?

I use silicone grease. and I use it in the tranny, as well. the ss brakes also stop faster

I used a light coat of white lithium grease on my tranny gears and heavy wheel bearing grease in my diffs.....

So does anyone know whether or not the kit comes with shock oil?

I think it comes with 30wt. shock oil, but don't quote me on that. Most people tend to use between 25-35wt. oil in the stock shocks.

I like using associated silicone oil in most all my shocks....
