mod help

hey y'all I'm looking to make a good basher savage. ive been looking around the forums and it looks like the mid tank mod and extend chassis is a very popular mod. i just broke the engine mount (again) in my savage and have a third mount on order from hpi. my problem is that i want to do this but i cant seem to find a good source. either I'm blind or dumb. HELP!

well just remember if you mod it you might make another area weaker. Until you get tired of it the way it is leave it alone. put a 3 speed in it and maybe upgrade the shocks. other than that it is a great truck out of the box

Yes. you are correct,.. Sir.

I would say if you still a newbie to nitro, give it more time to get your knowledge and skills down. Then,... If you want to go with the mod thing, you can approach it with a little more experience.

It would probably be a good idea to remain stock until you get a little more used to it. However, that being said, if you're still considering a mid tank mod, you can check these threads out...should give you some good advice:

Click Me!

For an extended chassis, you can get the extended TVP's (Twin Vertical Plates) from a few different companies, including FLM (Fast Lane Machine), Twisted Toys, IRC (Innovative R/C), and others I'm forgetting right off the top of my head.

thanks for the advice. i do need a set of shocks, because i broke the two on the right rear and bent the front right ones. any advice to a set of them?

you have a few choices when it comes to tvps for extended chassis. There are a few out there. New Era,IRC and twisted toys to name a few. As for the mid tank it is pretty simple. find a tank you like that fits your truck. The cen matrix tank works well in the X radio box. you will need to invest in a dremal. you will be doing some cutting. as for the servo relocation. There are a few mounts. RPM makes the least expensive. Then you pic a location on the side of the tvp and drill 2 holes and there is the servo relocation mount. for the servo horns use the ofna servo horn kit. just remember run all linkages 90 degrees to each other so you don't get any binding. look at my pictures, jt,and i sure sj can name a few more. we have pics of the mods in there. it really isn't that hard.

battery boxes you can find an rpm one or go to radio shack and they have sealed boxes of different sizes that you can mount and use.

alright i just broke the rear shocks again, and i really want to get a good set of them. whats a good set that doesnt require modification or new mounts?

integy msr8s you can run 4 or 8 there big and pretty strong. no mods needed.

if your a hardcore basher the rpm a-arms are great! there lighter then stock and are guaranteed not to break! and there fairly cheap as well!

Well you just :whipit:with the msr4s. the msr4 and 5 shocks had very weak shafts. they bend easier than the stock shocks. You needed to do the msr8s if you did integy. that is why in my earlier post i only said msr8.

My Savage (advice welcomed!)

Well I've owned my savage for about 3 months, but I've been driving nitro trucks for about a year. I really enjoy this truck, because it makes my old t-maxx (sold it) look like a child's toy.

I'd really like to start modifying my savage, because I've been blowing out shocks like crazy, and gone through 2 motor mounts.

I have a set of MSR4's (i know they are crappy but i got them for $30) on the way along with a CEN Matrix tank for a mid tank mod. Other than that, I'm open for suggestion. Id like to get an extended TVP, about an inch or so of extension but not LCG. I like the stance my Savage has for the area I bash in.

Any and all suggestions are welcome.

I thought that LCG TVPS wont lower the ride hieght just lower the Motor

Giving you better control in Drifting in the Dirt and sharper turns on Asphault.

Shock hieght isnt altered...RIght? anyone..Agree!!!
