So here I am with my first cry for help.. lol

My savage has the roto start. From day one it been a struggle to start.
Constatly locking up the stater drill thing, but the engine wasnt flooded??

Anyway, after reading a few posts on here, I decided to strip the bit that that rotor shaft goes into.
I found that the hex bit is held onto the starter shaft by two small grub screws. One of these grub screws had come away and was floating around inside the casing. Obviously jamming the starter shaft from time to time.

Its all back together and seems to work fine now, thank goodnes!

My question is related to the disc brake. While messing with the savage, I have somehow managed to knock the brake linkage and the lever that it connects to has come out of its shaft.
I see that the lever tightens into the shaft via a small screw. Ive put back in and tightened the screw, but the lever seems really lose? should the lever that engages the brake pads spring back to a set position?

Bit of a long post, sorry lol

and a second 'sorry' for my lack of terminology/names for the parts/bits that I'm refering to!

Cheers
DiGG

There is no spring or anything else that puts tension on the brake lever. Its position is controlled by the linkage. If it is disconnected from the linkage it will just flop back and forth.

Thanks for the reply....

What holds the linkage to the servo?
Mine seems really lose?

Looking at mine, when the servo is opening the throttle. It looks like the brake lever could fall forward and engage the brake? There is nothing to hold the bake lever back?

I hope I'm making sense lol 🙂

You can put an extra collar on the wire so when your giving throttle the brake for certain won't engage at all. And if there's a spring on the wire, you can remove that and use fuel line for a more solid brake feel. Then again, I think the stock setup has a split servo horn that has spring tension built in. Most people remove that and use a solid horn with their own springs/collars.

This is my X:

Thanks for that!
I've kind of done the same thing, but with nylon tube.
Where did you get the brass clamps that you have on the linkage?
