I changed gears and still chewing them up , looking for cheap new slipper spring and nut kit with a steel gear. If the nut is to loose it comes off and when it's to tight it eats, we have my engine solid but it may need some washers under it ? It meshes I guess but Idk

don't use washers under the engine mount.... have you checked the engine mounting plate to see if it has cracked, this happens all the time and causes things to get out of alignment..... as for eating the spur the mesh needs to be right on or it will eat the spur every time, too loose or tight and no teeth on the spur is the result...... as for the slipper nut, yes they do wear out and need replaced at times.... running the clutch locked down still allows some slip so I doubt that's the problem. I run my slipper locked tight...

I have the mount and the engine stiff. my cam has less than a mm of play left to right on my crank and seems to line up and sound good for the most part.... I already ate a couple teeth though on my back up . ordered whole new spring washers locknut and a steel one from Dollarhobbyz . I bet this won't slove the problem but make it worse lol.

Well if you look something is out of line , the teeth on the bell outta be lined up almost perfectly with the spur gear and I can see yours is way off. so is time to pull the engine and inspect the engine plate for cracks......

just got 2 new plastic spur gears and extra screw, fame is solid now.. Time to mount and try this mesh business again.

wow....5 bux for a spur is high. I pay 3.
imo os plugs are better that hpi's plugs are, but hey, whatever u want. what "heat" is it? (cold, medium, or hot?)

And Rc Nut 14 they are med-hot R4's I get r3-r5 Hpi's , he just took me down from 9$ to 7$ and the man actually tries to help me so I don't mind . The other store has them at 9$ and I took back a faulty fuel bottle and they just told me to call traxxas...

3 spur gears down 1 metal one in the mail. I hope #4 looks and isn't too tight!

Is that a buku clutch system? Thought I saw an adjustment screw on the flywheel could be wrong though. I had the same problem with my buku clutch had to get an adjustable motor mount to get my alignment right. As for the spur shredding still think your mesh isn't right.

The exhaust is only non stock item on my savage 4.6 that I know of . I guess the mesh is off, my engine is sitting to far forward and needs filed down to fit better. I bought the guy breakfast and we put in a new plastic gear and five minutes later I ate #4. Larry told me he was busy but would get it , I just told him to keep it and call me when It's doing wheelies with a plastic gear...

I've spent enough money for now lol, something to look into though indeed thanks. This is my current project since the savage is gone. Pretty sure it's an hpi mt2 with a hpi .15 on it.. What i was told lol. Just need a pull start

5 spur gears later. I installed the metal spur gear and was babying it for about 2 tanks before I locked down the locknut lol... Wanted to have a little fun before I stripped this metal gear. But after tightening the locknut and getting it tuned in almost, I started a video and of course my dbag neighbor came out lol...The engine is meshed propper and center, moved it back about 3/8ths lol, no wear on gears either, looking very promising now 🙂 huge thanks for all the pointers and help again HPI SAVAGE FORUMS _o_ _o_ _o_ 😀 And yes Here's THE VIDEOOOOOOO ! lol

After many good runs, wheelies, my back tires won't spin quiet , engine goes truck wont, and I think the rear drive shaft dogbone isn't moving always .... About to take it apart sometime and see what's going on 😛

Ok I finally have a little money and went ahead and took it apart for the first time in this area. As I said It was doing wheelies , going strong and I just lost power. When I later ran it it wouldn't go above 5 mph I noticed the front tires would "peel out" but the back had barely any power. These are the pictures I have from my work , I'm guess those screws are in my C joint things my dogbones go in? I'm unsure where to go from here ... And Why is my rear drive shaft drive bone seem "short" ?

This same thing happened to me yesterday. I broke a shaft screw in the cup right behind the tranny. Check there and use locktite! Good luck...

All of this was intact , c cups are good , just didn't get to tranny yet .. Ordered new gears a week ago lol, still waiting .. I found a small amount of shavings inside differential , seen and heard some things about a "locker" instead of the gears. Now I have someone telling me it's just my clutch bell getting to hot : |

Update finally got gears and grease , locktite . cleaned differential out, new bearings, cleaned mostly lol... All on but the bumper...

Just so you know those side gears look like they are coming apart, look close at the teeth I can see 2 that are flattened out
