Savage X 4.6 starting problems.

So I just bought this truck and the engine wont turn over. It does have a roto start and I am not entirely sure which direction to turn the roto start either. So do these things go bad? What goes bad in them and should I just convert it to a pull start? If I do convert it to a pull start do I need another owb? I am fairly new to nitro stuff but all of a sudden I have 10 of them. lol Thanks for any help guys.

it turns counter clock wise, if the one way bearing slipping, chances are it needs replaced.

I prefer roto. pull and roto both have one way bearings .

The newer ones have a hex on the shaft with a set screw. Mine came loose. Check that first before buying a pullstart or new rotostart.

It happened to me once, had me ready to replace the owb. Took it apart to change it and found it

Ok thanks for the help guys but now the starter shaft is stuck in the roto start. Seriously it won't come out. I am guessing the guy I bought it from just left it in there. They are kinda like a dog bone end correct?

Yes, wow that's a new one on me, well before you take motor out to see what the problem is that shaft has to come out, with patience, I guess try a shot of spray lube and be careful
