I think the main difference is that the ss you put together yourself, is that right? If I look for parts, and it says it fits the savage ss, will it fit my RTR savage X 4.6 also???? This part compatibility is driving me nuts, ala cooling head

The main difference between the engines in the two models is one comes with the K4.6(SS) and the other comes with the F4.6(RTR). As far as if the heads are interchangeable, I'm not sure but I know everything else is.

Thanks parkermarsh, I was talking about regular parts, not the cooling head. Stuff like uprights, body mounts etc, stuff like that. So you answered my question, thanks bro!

Glad I could help. The SS kit does come with upgraded parts from the RTR model. I.E. HD dogbones, drive cups, polished pipe, adjustable upper arms and I'm sure more I can't remember. I myself plan on buying a kit just to get all the stuff I need for my first savy project and selling everything I don't need.

The best part about the kit is building it yourself and seeing how everything works on it! And also the upgrades that it comes with, and you get to choose your own radio...Rather than have to put up with the crappy HPI stock radio.

I bought the RTR, but have since torn it completely down and put it back together upgrading most parts while doing it.

However, my next one will be a kit. Hopefully, the Baja 5b SS!! :Xfingers:

hey whipnet, I have done the exact thing you have done. Bought the RTR, and since have had it just about completely torn apart and put it back together. Since it was my first, I was just excited to get it home and running and didnt feel like having to build it and wait to run it. My next will definately be a kit.
