Hi all,

I ran my Savage very successfully in temperatures between 10-25 degrees. During cold days I had to adjust the carburetor slightly but even so I got good results. I used the 16/12 fuel.
I´m now living in Brazil and decided to get my Savy to tropical temperatures (30 - 40 degrees). I got the information that it would be good to buy a 20/12 fuel the keep the engine cooler.
But now I have really big problems. I had to adjust the engine to the new fuel, but I don´t get it right. And the glow plugs keep burning (they are difficult to get in Brazil).
Can someone help me on this? Any suggestions? A colder or hotter glow plug? A different fuel? Here you get 15/12; 20/12; 25/12; 30/12 and 33/12 for cars

Thanks

Martin

so what are ya asking ? what percent of nitro to use ? what plug to use ? I run my stuff on mostly 20% nitro content and use a MC59 plug with good results... on some big block engines I use an MC8 plug.. really how ya tune is subjective to alot of different things..... hope ya get it running good soon.....

I use the HPI R4 medium plug and the 20% Nitro fuel. For high temperatures should I use a colder o hotter plug? What´s the effect of a colder or hotter plug?

Thanks

if is a stock savage engine then ur best bet is stayin with what plug HPI says to use. you don't need a hotter or colder plug for different ambient temps. the heat ranges are mainly for racing type engines and I think you are getting lost in the tuning aspect of running a nitro vehicle..... the engine in your truck should respond to different ambient temps the same way maybe a lil tuning of the high needle , but put away all the fancy meters and tools and enjoy the truck I think you will enjoy it more........

Thanks for your comments. I agree that I tried too much adjustments. I put the Savy back to the factory settings (manual) and it runs 90% fine. Tomorrow I will try some fine tuning; I´m confident that I will get it right this time.

Cool deal Martin hope it worx out good for ya just move the high needle in tiny increments till ya get the sweet spot it will come in easily if the engine is in good shape.....

Thanks for your help. I was going first into the wrong direction. I was worried that the engine would get too hot and wanted to get a richer mixture. But in fact a higher air temperature means less air and as a consequence a leaner mixture. I got the sweet spot and my savy responding nevous to the acceleration. I just went back a little bit to be on the conservative side because I have no exact motor temperature.

I still have some troubles with the idle needle, because I adjusted it only on the control. This will be the next step. In cold temperatures 0,5mm gap was fine, now I have to go to 1mm. I did this with the server but this was not ideal.
