no it not a rod this just happend to me it is a pin just stick a small magnet down in there and put it on back of the crank were ur rod is
 
Either way - if a pin is loose inside the engine you take it apart and look for damage. Like pits, scratches and wear. Question is do you know how to break an engine down?
 
it didnt have any damage on mine but i didnt look for it either i just put the pin back in and it started right up r u using a roto or pull start?
 
I use a pull start. The first time I pulled an engine apart I had no clue what to expect. Good thing is you were able to it.
