Savage .25 steering issue need help!

I just got a .25 savage on a trade as far as I knew it needed a new one way bearing I just put a pull start on it, so I go to run it around a little feeling accomplished and it doesn't turn ! I mean it will turn but needs to be moving and it is very slow turning it won't turn wheels left or right just sitting in place any ideas? New to nitros but got a basic understanding any help/ideas will be MUCH appreciated, I'll try to provide as much info as I can! Thanks in advance

You need to get a new steering servo or check the receiver batteries.

You probably need to tighten the steering servo saver. Does the servo move but the wheels don't? If you hold the truck with the front off the ground do the wheels steer normally?

stock servos are known to be pretty weak. if you looking to upgrade look into a metal geared servo with at least 200 oz in and make sure there is no binding in the steering system...
it will steer like a maddog once you do the servo replacement

Do they usually come with Traxxas servos?

No they would have come with HPI branded servos. and that traxxas servo is not all that strong at 71 oz in of torque.....

A quick search on e bay turned up these... just remember your servo is standard sized, so the options go from mild to wild in price... but something with a metal geartrain and at least 200 oz in of torque should fit the bill...

I recently bought a Savox 1230sg which has 500 oz of torque at 6v (humpback battery) for my XL with big Joe's. I really like it, but it is noisy. Once the nitro gets going you don't hear it. I think it was only $60 - $70

A savox 0231MG will work well for you, but I'd highly suggest getting a glitch buster cap as well, which may require a Y connector. Savox servos while strong, cheap and durable, tend to cause brown outs. Especially when using AA's vs a NiMH receiver pack.

I have one of those in my revo for steering and it works just fine. I have another to put in my brushless revo, but I went with an old hitec 985MG instead, which is a hair weak for the task at 172oz, but it does ok.

The receivers I use are 3 channel, so I have an open port to plug the glitch buster into vs using a y-harness. All the glitch buster is is a capacitor that stores/supplies instant power. Like a really fast charge/discharge battery. So, when the servo demands a lot of power all at once (full lock or on impact), the cap helps avoid a brown out to your receiver by supplying an extra burst of power until the battery pack catches up.

Just a update found a cheap servo on Amazon with 145 oz in it was 6 bucks thought why not? I'll let y'all know how it works and how fast it breaks (lol) it's a Rage RC servo
