I picked up a very clean 21 w/a s25 motor ( CHEAP ), i added a rpm center skid plate , 3 stage motor saver air filter, horsie shock covers & a fuEL tank guard , i'm thinking , should i re-sell it & get the x ss , or mod out this one? if i do mod it , spider gears , alum diff housings , heavy duty drives & bones, etc etc, i'm not going to go back into full out racing , just looking to bash & have some fun ,is it worth it? i've been in this hobby a long time ,any suggestions would b appreciated , i've been out of racing for about 8 years , man things have changed ! LOL

That is a good ?.. depending on what it sells for.. you could probably spend a lot of money trying to get it on the same level as the ss..

I would say sell it .. if you get ..say 170.00 for .. take another 200.00 then do some ebay shopping and get a nice rig..

Thats what i'm thinking ! the x has a lot to offer . i think i'd be better off in the long run & give a newbie a chance to buy a good clean truck.
Thanks,

Definitely I would say get it really nice, clean, and pretty, then take it to eBay. Take a good amount of time explaining it and sound as professional as you can in the description. You should be able to get maybe a good 200.

first off, I respect the insight of these two guys more than my own. (jester , morris)

although,

I am running my original 21 savage

I have since burried a brand new 25 savage

I don't think it matters which unit you have, you will be replaceing parts
on all of them. Thats the nature of the game.

The used rc market is not good, espeacially for old 21's

good luck

I upgraded when things broke, than repeat....

Yes I would keep the 21 also and spend the money and you can get the "X" Tvp's or get some nicer ones that are Extended, LCG, or whatever if you want, get the new "X" radio box, easy access bulkheads with diffs, and stuff and you would still be under $100. Then just get a good motor for it and you would be set!

(2) Easy Access Bulkheads with diffs: $50~
(1) X Radio Box: $10~
(1) Set of X TVP's: $10-20~
(1) Easy Access Transmission Case: $15~

Total: $95

Again this is just what I
would do and doesn't mean you have to, just giving my input.

If possible, what about keeping the 21 and getting an xSS or RTR? Like previously stated, upgrade/replace what you break on the 21 as needed. With the XL rolling out, prices have dropped a little on both the X RTR and SS. Its always good to have 2 trucks so while one is broken you can try and break the other. Either way you will still have a great basher. My $.02.

Heres a couple of links for you in case you go this route.

Thanks crash.

Although I also believe keeping it isn't a bad idea either. All you would really want to do is get yourself maybe some FLM TVP's, and the X front and rear diff set-ups and there you go a basically bullet proof truck.

Then you can look into slowly upgrading things like the transmission, radio box, and the other little things.

It really comes down to what you want to do my friend! :FarleyParty:

Thanks for the replies , i appreciate it . i just might hang on to it & buy the x , it's not like i have to sell it. i'll have to toss it around for sure , thanks for the links!

I would just hang on to it and have fum with it. Upgrades are nice if it helps performance or durability. I have a Savage 25 that I replaced parts as needed, which only means the radio, occasional dog bones and an Axial 28 motor.

Thanks for all the input , i'm going to pull the trigger tommorow & purchase the Savage XSS !

Man i'm pumped , the ss should be here tommorow , already have the rpm center skid , bad horsie shock covers & a whellie bar on the way as well ! i'm going to purchase the futaba 3pm fasst system & digital servos very soon. i have been out of the hobby for awhile , but it sure feels great to be back , i plan on decking this truck out. not a shelf queen at all , but a true roots basher ! i ain't scared. lol & yes i know what a glow plug is ! hahahha
Great forum you have here .
