My Robinson Racing steel spur came with a bearing in place of the brash washer. Did you get a bearing with yours?

If your talking about the brass washer that mounts by the spring, mine was the same way. The hole is more shallow than factory. And yes you use the factory wear pad.

I used the factory Pad and I do have the bearing with it.....

the washer with the flats does it go on top of the spring.....

I think thats where I screwed up...I put it under the spring and it stops where the flats end on the shaft

no it does go against the bearing, the tranny shaft has flats on it and the washer with the flats should slide over them.

ok...Thats how I got it but the washer is away from the gear.... alot of gap...

prob..1/16 of and inch

you got the pad, and the metal slip ring on the new spur gear right? can you take a pic?

yep....maybe the gear on backwards....I might have the bearing in the front or oppisite side of spring

would that make a difference

OK...here is a pic..hope you can see it....slipper pad and Washer are in place

I tried the gear both ways and no different..........Maybe my shaft pulled out...there is a little slop in there

I have a stock 4.6 rtr...about a week old.

1 steel washer pad with 2 drive holes and 1 fiber slipper pad

The 4.6 rtr comes with the "25" slipper. Your metal spur is meant to be used with the "X" slipper. The "X" slipper needs a metal plate on both sides of the spur, while the "25" slipper only has one. Get another metal plate for the other side of your spur at your local hobby shop. Basically you bought a spur for the "X" slipper when you had the "25" slipper.

Ok...I see

I have been so specific to make sure I get X Parts too........:Mr.confused:

is everything else X specific

Thanks Bud....I gave you some Rep......

You were right to get the "X" items. Your truck's parts include all of the new "X" parts except the slipper. HPI reverted back to the "25" slipper on all new models because it performs better than the "X". Everything else on your truck is upgraded to the "X" version, tranny case, bulkheads, suspension arms, rollbar, skid plates, shock towers, radio box, the list goes on. You just happened to purchase the ONE thing they didn't include the "X" version of, lol.

Hey bullseye, I have the same spur gear for my 4.6 and was told to put a bearing in between the gap. So the bearing first then the washer then the spring and nut on the end. Seems nice and tight. Cheers!!

I lik your spur gear better than mine. You have a cone nose like the plastic ones. I have a flat face on both ends. Is that a Robinson? Cheers!

Yup its a robinson racing 48t spur gear.

When that picture was taken I had the RR 48t spur/ 16t clutch bell combo. To my knowledge this is the only set made for the savage. I still run the 48 t spur but I don't run the clutch bell anymore. I don't like the RR clutch bell because it isn't vented and I ran through more clutch shoes because of it.

Good advice, So what clutch bell can I use if I want to keep my Robinson spur? anychance you got a part number? Cheers!!

As long as you go with a hardened clutch bell you should be fine. I've been happy with the HPI clutch bells, you can see a bunch of them HERE .
