Reverse Question

ZxIRAX- You will need the 3rd channel or the reverse mixer but you also need the revers modual which is the part that goes into the transmission and another servo. I believe that if you have the mixer you don't need a 3rd channel basicly the module creats signal to the reverse servo after holding the throttle on the brake for so long, at least thats what I believe. Here is the module http://www3.towerhobbies.com/cgi-bin/wti0001p?&I=LXDSD1&P=V

hpi4life-could you be switching to reverse whale the truck is moing forward

mine some time doesnt get there in time and i step on the gas and the flywheel just winds up to the moon and when it goes back to idle it finished and goes again as it would normaly

I'm running reverse with a 3 channel radio. You do not need (or want) the mixer. You want the module that larsenracing gave you a link to. You will also need a servo to make the actual shift into reverse happen.
The mixer shifts the transmission into reverse automaticly when the brakes have been on for 3 seconds. That can turn out bad. But you only need it to run reverse with a 2 channel radio.

So If I use my 3 channel radio (using the third channel for the reverse servo) reverse will kick in as soon as I press the reverse control on my transmitter?

Lets say I accidently hit the reverse control while speeding along in second. I imagine that this would cause damage to the gears right?

As I see it, the mixer has a dual function, it will allow a 3rd function (channel) on a 2 channel radio. It will also only engage the reverse servo when the brake has been held for 3 seconds.

I can imagine the 3 second thing being a pain, as I like to brake hard and skid, often leaving my finger on the trigger after coming to a stop. I don’t really want my truck to then start reversing at that point to be honest!

I will have a flick through my manual tonight to see where exactly my 3rd channel controls are located. I haven't really studied my controller all that much, but I can't say that I have actually noticed the 3rd channel controls.

for while your going and try to shift, i find mine has some kinda safty almost cause when i shift in to the oppisit gear while the truck is still moveing it just spins as if there was a gear missing and it winds up and then when the truck comes to a full stop it finishes shift and goes as normal. idk if this is just the way the reverse module is or what but i hope this helps 🙂

#1-Yes you will get reverse as soon as you hit the 3rd channel button.

#2-Yes if you accadentaly hit the 3rd channel button whale going full speed ahead or reverse you will take the gears right out of either the transmission or the Reverse module.

whne you say "take out" do you mean strip them or make it so then don't grab??? cause mine just lets go and free spins when that happens but ive never done it at full throttle, and also my switch isnt loose enough that you could just bump it so there really isnt any thing to worry about

Thats cool. My T-maxx does that. Or if the idle is set too high. Just wouldnt shift till the RPMs lowered.

Bought the reverse module last night for £25 (approx $50). I am going to buy a Hitec HS-322 Standard Heavy Duty Servo to control it.

It will be a while until I can install it though, as I will be away from home all next week =( but it gives me something to do at nights when I get home!

Looking at replacing the stock shocks next =)

Thanks for the help lads!

If you look at the required specs they are very low. I'm using the HS 311 and its more than strong enough.

I looked at the 311, but there was only £1 differance between the 322, so I went for that =)
