what does the mixer for the savage x reverse modules do? and will a sf1 servo work for engaging the reverse module

The reverse mixer engages reverse when the brakes have been applied for more than 3 seconds. Not a very good idea if your driving downhill or if your doing fast runs in a parking lot. If it engages into reverse before the truck is stopped it can damage the module or even the transmission.
Best bet for reverse is to get a radio with 3 channels. Than reverse runs on its own channel and you can take as long to slow down as you want to.
BTW, the SF1 servo will work great for reverse. Any cheap servo will work actually. I'm using a $10 Hitec HS 311 and its been working great.

ya i have a 3 channel radio, my savage 21 came with a hpi tf-4 3 channell radio

That should work for you than. I wouldn't even waste the money on the mixer. Just get the module and use it with your 3rd channel.
