I got a used Savage XL today that came with a Spektrum DX3R Radio, and the antenna wire on the XL is only like 4" long.

What gauge wire should I replace it with, and how long do i make it?

Thanks,
Geo

buy some antenna wire from radio shack.

also make sure it was the same length as when you first got it.

wait, i re read that. the antenna is supposed to be that short... its a 2.4 radio system

i have no idea the length as when i got it, it was 4" long, I have no clue the length it should be.

And I can go buy just ANY wire that is the correct gauge right?

is it 24g?

Oh really? I didnt know that. I just figured it had been ripped in half.

The length of the 2.4 ghz antenna should be 8.5 inches. That is from the point it is connected to the reciever itself.

The range of a Spektrum Reciever transmitter setup should be 3000 ft. LOL So 4oo is kinda lame. Sorry.

Sure it say 2900+ ft but i don't own a plane or a heli so that doesn't matter, i run on a track and up and down the street so IDC !!
Plus i use the telemetry so it's only good for 300+ feet .

Exactly, On ground is different than in the air. Besides, I don't think I could see my Truck at more than 300 feet. :eyes:
