Just getting into LiPo batteries, I use a LiPo bag and charge in an ammobox for safety....... by the look of your rig I would say start from square 1 and go from there... sux to lose your stuff but at least you saved your house....

Holy smoke that’s sad to see ? that truck deserves to be rebuild!! Sorry for your loss

Such a shame. Sorry to see that. Glad you seem to be ok and that you saved your house.

I would say rebuild it.

Were you charging the lipos without removing them from the rig?

I was actually discharging them for storage and I actually took them off the truck but i put them right by the truck

Sorry to see that. But, if you didn't know, you never want to store your LiPo batteries diacharged. Always store them, short or long term, at 80% charged.

oh sorry didnt mean discharging all the way down...they were fully charged and i put the battery charger on storage mode which discharges them right below 4v ...well in this case went to 0v

...well in this case went to 0v

Even in the darkest of times, humour reveals itself!

Sorry this happened to you mate, really sucks!!!

This should be a pinned post to show the dangers of LiPo's!! Never take them for granted!

What charger and what LiPo? That was ridiculous. I personally only saw a LiPo caught fire when a rc airplane smashed into the ground.

Do you happen to know what failed?
Power surge, charger failure, battery failure?

I'm really curious to understand how this happened. The charger I got for my batteries is supposed to be "decent" as said by the dude at my local hobby shop. Supposed to be FCC compliant but the electrical noise from this charger is insane. I don't trust it :ROFLMAO:

I honestly wouldnt trust any of them although I don’t think it was the charger ... I'm leaning towards a bad cell in one of the batteries which made it unstable during the discharge???

I have to wonder why you would be discharging a LiPo battery anyway, I store mine at 80% or better......

I have read somewhere that it is important to discharge them for storage - pretty sure it was the manager at my local hobby shop.
I haven't done a lot of research into LiPo's but I do trust what he says. He's been in the game way longer than me so I tent to take a lot of advance from him

Everything I read and people I have talked to say differently, they say to store at 80% of total voltage or even fully charged if you plan on running them within a week or less.....
At any rate I am sure there is alot of conflicting information out there, this is the main reason I have waited so long to plunge into LiPo and brushless power.... I charge in a LiPo sack ALWAYS and store my batteries in an ammo can for safety.....

By discharging for storage I mean like over a month - I have never discharged my batteries before.
I usually charge them up after using them because I use the savage regularly. I wish there wasn't so much conflicting information. Its very confusing :ROFLMAO:

It is important to discharge for storage, but you only need to discharge to storage voltage. From what I've read, you don't want to let them sit for long durations at full charge as it increases the resistance in the pack, which shortens the life. But you don't need to do a deep discharge, then charge back up to storage I don't think.

If you go another route give me a shout. I’d buy what’s between the front and rear bulkheads. Always fancied doing a 1/5 sand rail Savage build
