Can you use an every-day brand of paint on bodies with decent results ?

or are you limited to buying the little fastkolor cans at the LHS that are about the same price as the bigger can at home depot caz your spraying lexan?

I used a can of Krylon to paint a shell awhile back. Looked good on the shelf, but when it took impact the paint flaked off.

if you want a custom color fred you can head down to most auto parts places and they can mix you up a color and put it in a rattle can just make sure they put the flex agent in it

Yes. You can use any paint. But like it was mentioned. Impact flakes it off real easy due to it has no flex to it. I found out its easy to prevent it if you use really thin costs. Then back it with clear packaging tape. Still tries to flake but the tape holds it inplace so not to much damage at all. The best paint I have used is parms fas color. No flake at all.

I used Pactra Racing Finish on both my lids and have not had any flaking at all. My old touring car flaked really easily with traditional spray paints. I'll never go back to regular paints. There is no comparison IMO. It might work better if they put in a flexing agent like mickey said but I'm sticking with the hobby lexan paints myself. Good luck.

+4 on this one bud.

I was too eager to paint my last one on a Sunday and of course the hobby store was closed so I used regular paint. Looked good at first but didn't last long 🙁

I wouldn't reccomend it but i actually painted the outside of an old body flat black with some American Traditions spray paint from Lowes. it is still on there. it will not flake off my body at all. just look on the can to see isf it bonds to polycarbonate or lexan and other plastics. Do some great pre-paint prep and it will work.
