I'm trying to figure out a radio fail safe and need some help. Got a 4PK yesterday along with a BLS451 throttle servo and a JR DS8711 steering servo. For the battery fail safe I have a choice of 3.5v, 3.8v, 4.4v, & 4.75v. I'm using a 6.0v, 1600Mah hump pack.

Anybody have a good idea what the battery fail safe voltage should be set to?

well i myself don't have an answer for you but thought i would take the time to say welcome to the hpisf family my friend, glad ya found us as this is a great place to turn to for help or just make some friends that are into the same hobby so again welcome and I'm sure someone will have some help for ya soon!!

if its the venom smart temp fail safe,i would hook it to the steering and not the throttle

i have to agree with oregon on this one. if your rx/tx batts go dead, it may go WFO, which in the case your suggesting, it would turn to one side, and most likely flip, causing the engine to spool up and probable pop.

the 4pk has a built in failsafe anyways. i would suggest the highest or 2nd highest, and pick up a 2nd hump pack, that way you don't have to stop running.

He does not have the venom. This is about his internal 4pk fail safe. Lets stay on topic men let the Venom statement go... He's not misleaading eddie but good looking out for him! :resp:

because with the venom if you happen not to set it up right (like i did ) and it can go full throttle instead of slowing down.
mine did it twice and i like to have totaled it before i could make it flip.
oh yea and it can run way faster than i can.
and with it hooked to the steering it will still let you know if something is wrong.

Yes step up and test fail safes B4 you run the truck! Its easy to turn off the radio with the truck on the floor and see what the linkage/servos do. Not as easy when they are doing 40. Its a good idea to check them b4 every run too. It only takes less then a second! I turn on my RX first and test EVERY time out. But like everyone said "Cheep" Fail safes go on the throttle/brake. But not steering if you rather replace the mill over a a-arm. In-radio fails safes like Eddie's do all functions. Steering, brakes, and watch voltage. They are as safe as it gets! My DX3R only does steering and brakes. It Flips out if I lose voltage! I would love my truck to shut down when it hit 4.7 volt's. I need to stay on top of my batteries but not hard to do.

Good choice in Tx's Eddie! Enjoy it and have a blast.

NiMH voltage and thanks!

First of all, thanks to everyone who's tried to help. I posted a different question about the 4PK in the Futaba Manufactures section on another forum that was ignored.

Does anyone here know if it's true that you don't want to let a MiNH pack go under 1v per cell?

Its not a good idea to run 2 failsafes. They end up fighting and its no good. Plus the Venom smart temp isn't accurate. keep the Speky and get a temp gun.
