Hi Everyone!

So I'm really new to the nitro scene. And I was wonder what the advantages to doing a Mid-Tank are? Why is it a worthwhile thing to do? Also is there a conversion kit or anything like that? Or is it all mainly custom work? Thank you in advance!

One if the advantages is that you get away from the half tank lean issues, and you move the tank inside the tvps. There are a couple diffrent companys that make diffrent tvps so you can do this. Here are diifrent links for you to look at.

Both of these guys have everything you need to do the mod.Just have to decide if you want aluminum or carbon fiber..

this is great advice too tall & great explanation of the benefits i got when i mid-tanked.

I'm really considering, getting the conversion kit. It looks really cool and it seems like it has lots of benefits!

Is something like this: http://www.platinumrcproducts.com/prc 112.html

The same as this: http://www.innovative-rc.com/produc...d=242&osCsid=e056e58353c5797a81491f9ea1d22afb

I believe that the second talks about needing a new TVP (what does TVP stand for?) Does that mean that it won't with the stock chassis?

Sorry for all of my questions!

TVP-Twin Vertical Plates

In my opinion I would go with the Platinum RC one. It looks really good. Talk to larsen and ask him how his product would fit in your truck.

hmmmm......never noticed that innovative rc site before! i wonder if they ship to the us?!?!?!

They do, I read that you don't like how flm's look. Maybe you would like their chassis better?

Why A Mid Tank

When I first got my savage X and looked at this site, I thought I would never do a mid tank. I have done the Cen / Mugen midtank and love it! This is the way the Savage should have been designed. I don"t notice any lean issues, which means more consistent tuning. If your running on a track you will always know how the truck will react with the throttle. Well worth the money and time, I got all my parts from the SMF Store, great prices and great service.

So if I were to get this one: http://www.platinumrcproducts.com/prc 112.html

Would I need to get anything else? Well apart from a new gas tank right? And also would I have to find a new home for things like the reciever or will it all fit in nicely on that Platinum Product?

Check out this this place, it will give you some ideas and maybe answer some of the questions for you..Alot of diffrent mid tank mods in here..

if you use that plate your gonna have to relocate your throttle/brake servo to the stock fuel tank location. the easiest way for you to accomplish this is to pick up a set of FLM TVP's caz they are pre-drilled to mount the servo in this location. Here is how my first midtank looked using a plate similar to the 1 you posted, a Cen box & Mugen tank

Run times were painfully short with that tank.

Switched to OFNA 250cc tank & i get about 30 minutes run time per refill

Battery mounted in HPI Rush Box on the Front Tower

Steer servo gets mounted to FLM TVP under midtank plate & Rx is in the RPM box on the side of the TVP

thrott/brake servo in stock tank location

Platinum sells the tank plate, the tank, the HPI Rush box, the rush box mount, the servo mounts, fuel line.

again the flm tvp's are sweet because it accepts all the mods shown in the pics caz they are pre-drilled to mount everything you see done in the pic.

PRC will have everything you need. If you plan on using the stock X TVP's, you will need to drill into the TVP's for the cross bars on the plate. You will also need to make a plate to mount the throttle servo in the rear.

ya there's lots of great ways to do it & many parts to do it with.

mostly comes down to personal preference, how much fabricating your willing to do &, of course, how much $$ you have in your budget.
