So i may of pulled my pull starter a little to hard. The cord came out in my hands ;-(.

Whats the best process to put it back in again? I am sooo sad cause this happened while i am still trying to break in my engine.

gump, if you broke the spring inside or bent it, then you are better off getting a new 1 for 20 bucks.....
.
oh yeah, & don't be pullin' on that thing so hard bro, your gonna tear it off, lol
.
8-10" of pull max........that is what bank told me when i was yankin' on the savage like i wuz startin' a mower...lol

I have never been very sucessful rebuilding pulls

sorry I'm no help

maybe order a spare one and try to repair the one you have

hmmmmm thats not good news...
How would i know if i bent a spring or if something broke. It it wise to take the actually pull start mechanism off?

If you can pull off the pull start, open it and see if the spring actually broke, or just came out of the hold. If broken, you could rebend the end and heat treat it for strenghth and put it back in. I've done that on quite a few of mine when I had pull starts.

Yep most of the time you can repair it if it didn't snap like Chunky monkey said. None of this process is fun. Not sure if there is a thread on it. I do know I have seen pictures by Jeremy that depict chucking your one way shaft in a drill to re-spool the spring and it works great. But that is only half the fun. If any and all possible do not pull the spool out of the main housing. If you can work with it in it its soooooo much easier! This will let you skip the drill part I was talking about. Ill try and see if I can get you a how to. Ive never seen one and may just have to make one.

I would remove the pull start and most of the time the string will wind back in, just be carefull when removing because the coil spring will pop out easiliy, and if it does GOOD LUCK repairing it.....I have had this happen and the best way I found was to wind it back up by hand on the spool making sure you hold it tight, when it is almost fully wound up I put 2 small cable ties to hold the coiled spring on the spool then put it back in the pull start caseing, you can then cut the cable ties and pull them out...it took me 2 hours repairing a pull start once!!! using cable ties to hold the spring coiled up helps a lot IMO....
