Pull start

my pull start keeps braking in many different ways. is this a common problem and would the best way to solve this be to get a roto start?

Depends..is the motor broken in?
Are you pulling it out too far?
Are you heating up the motor with a hair dryer or heat gun if it is new?
Are you hydrolocking it with fuel (primed too much)?

the motors broken it and ive had it for a few months now. and I'm not over priming it

Grab a new pullstart maybe?

I personally use roto, but only for now untill the motor is fully broken in then I'm switching to pull start...no starters to carry around just a glow igniter and fuel.

ye ive used pullstarts for a few years now but they always seen to brake.

i like the pullstart i havn't got the urge to switch to roto probably i'm just stubborn. anyway just grap an extra one rebuild on and keep it in your tool box and then you always have and extra one if one breaks. just don't get frustrated on the rebuild of the pull start and throw it across the yard thats what i usually end up doing haha.

How far do you pull it? short fast strokes ... a pull of 1 foot can break them.
