With the advent of the newer virus attacks and the new Trojans that are showing up on the internet these days http://tellox.net ( Your hosting company ) has revamped the company website to make it an interactive site.

Our purpose being to try to keep ahead of this new assault we are seeing and keep the public informed.

Originally we were going to use this site for the members of our hosting community, but one of our members has convinced us that for the casual user to find answers and or solutions to attacks is just so overwhelming and confusing that we need a place that can and will break it down for the everyday internet user.

Therefore you are welcome to register and request help through our service and forums should you so desire, we are going to make every effort to stay on top of the virus reports from the various news groups we are embers of and offer solutions to problems that may arise.

Web-based malware infections rise rapidly, stats show

Everyone beware! Courtesy CNet News and Tellup Web Hosting

The number of Web sites hosting malicious software, either intentionally or unwittingly, is rising rapidly, according to statistics to be released on Tuesday from Dasient.

More than 640,000 Web sites and about 5.8 million pages are infected with malware, according to Dasient, which was founded by former Googlers to offer services to help Web sites stay malware-free and off blacklists.

That figure for infected pages is nearly double what Microsoft estimated in a report in April.

Meanwhile, the Google blacklist of malware infected sites has more than doubled in the last year, registering as many as 40,000 new sites in one week.

That article is referencing more than one, there is a whole host of attacks on board right now, but the majority of these are working like a Trojan downloader that sets up a spam server on your home computer, however last month we did see a rash of home computers loose their operating systems after visiting an infected site.

I have just lost my home computer to something that keeps filling my hard drive with all types of junk files any idea what that could be.

Listen, there are three basic attacks coming right now out of Amsterdam, Russia and turkey through German proxies, Germany is fighting a loosing battle there.

Trojan Downloaders

Email Spoofs

It is wide spread and it is dangerous, the U.S. banking system is on high alert

Get a copy of Clam Anti Virus for windows, we highly recommend this, you can get a copy off our website at tellox.net or google for them, run it it's open source and 100% free.

Also get a copy of Malware bytes and install that, they have a free version but the paid for is better, it will block malicious ip's from coming in or going out

Lastly get a copy of spybot search and destroy, another 100% free program

Hopefully these three will get the problems off you box, if so you can uninstall Clam and Spybot and let malware bytes protect you but to get the full protection you will have to purchase it

Clam is the only program we know of that will search for and defeat email spoofing, hopefully you will get to this in time and not be in for an OS reinstall.

We have a program we can use to remote in and look your system over if need be.

Think I am past that can't do anything plus my email is sending out nearly 12 emails a day to everyone in my address book that I am not doing I pulled my wireless card out of it because it would still do this no matter what none of my drives work either and It restarts itself and logs on to my username by itself no matter what I do. Short of in pluging it there is no way to turn it off. I do believe it is done for tried to reinstall the os to wipe the whole thing a little while ago but it won't read the disk to do it. It is like something out of a Sifi movie. This is the reason I have not been able to record the podcast for the site as well sorry guys getting a new computer in a few weeks so we will be back up soon.

Instead of loading up with your PC with all of those AV and Spyware programs that hog your resources, you can always just run Firefox with the NoScript add-on.

Virus activity is actually at it's lowest right now in the enterprise world. Level 1 out of 4.

Sounds like a CNET article for getting people to buy more anti-malware software.

I wasn't saying anyone was wrong. (Sorry Tellox, it was late last night)

Macafee shows severe because of recent MS and Adobe vulnerabilities.

The internet has always been a great vehicle for viruses. And I have been reading articles like that from CNET almost since the Arpanet. They work well for selling AV software.

I directly and indirectly see over 600-700 users and I just have not seen anything new. There is no new Code Red out here right now that I have seen. I could be wrong though.

Pope if you load the mentioned programs, or Windows Defender or AVG freebie and they cannot get rid of the problem, more than likely you have a root kit or ADS, and the only way to really get rid of it is to back up your data and FDISK the drive. (wipe it clean)

I stopped fighting viruses a long time ago. I look at a problem a client has for about 5 minutes to determine the virus and then normally rebuild their computer. Chances are you are not going to see the rootkit, you are only seeing the viruses it's letting in. So if you delete them and they pop back up, it's a rootkit and bad news.
