any1 own a ps3?
i was thinking bout buying one but was skeptical about which size hard drive model to get
any1 who has one if u could tell me how much space uve actually used and if like the 80gb model is just to much space 2 ever remotely use

I'm planning on getting one soon aswell.....ive heard that the 40gb hard drive one doesnt supportt ps2 games

I have heard many state they didnt like the PS3, and that if you didnt have a HDTV its not worth it because you don't capture the full effect of the graphics. Also, they stated there is alot of issues with the first release of the PS3, same thing that basically happened when the XBOX 360 was released. The sales slumped so bad that Sony had to lower the prices on them. don't know really, seems to many negatives out there atm.

heard that to i don't have any ps2 games so should be ok wit me
thyrfing my friend has a ps3 the original one and hasn't had problems and likes it better then the 360

I own one which I purchased about a month ago its the second release and is the 40Gb model. I don't do alot of game playing so I'm sure the 40gb model will be fine for me. I mainly purchased it becuase of the bluray player since they are the same price. I have to agree that the ps3 may not be worth it if you are only going to play it on a standard tubed tv however it wont be to long as that is all we will have as there is so much difference. I personally haven't had issues with anything or heard of any issues. The wireless remotes are nice and the wireless on the unit is great as I wouldnt be able to connect it to my router so I'm using the wireless and its great.

You are correct the 40gb model doesnt accept ps2 games. The 80 does but I dought you are going to beable to get a hold of it as I think they are discontinuing the 80gb second release and my bet is they are going to release a smaller unit with like 80gb space.

I have one and love it! It's an 80 Gig and has plenty of space for my son and I. We (the Wife lol) love the Blu-Ray as well. Great investment IMHO.

I own a PS3 with a 60Gb hard drive and it plays PS2 games with no problem. I'm sure as developers learn more about the PS3s capabilities their games will become better and better. You can do much more than just play games on the 3 like put pics on it, download music on to it, download video on to it, and you can plug your PSP into it and download stuff on it as well. I'm sure that the PS3 coupled to a HDTV would have a better picture but what coupled to an HDTV doesnt. The PS3 is a good platform and I haven't heard of anyone any problems with it and I talk to the guys at gamestop a good bit about whats coming out and how things are going with the different platforms. Just my $.02

larsen how much space have u used?
and anyone know approximate space usage per game?

I agree with the guys above. The 40Gb is fine for me and I haven't used hardely any of the available space but haven't used it a lot like I said it will be fine for me but if you were a avid gamer it may n ot be enought. Also the 60 gb was discontinued and remade into the 80Gb which from my understanding the 80 is going to be or is discontinued both these stations will accept the PS2 games but the smaller units will not which is fine for me as I don't have a ps2 either. The bluray is awsome and the graphics of the games are very great best ive ever seen when using a HDTV. Like said above I'm sure the games will get better and better as they learn to further the games.

normal ps3 are droppin in price fairly soon as there are about to bring out a slim line one and its tiny

so the ps3 thats out right now is guna drop in price?
my friend got a slim playstation 2 and cooling wasnt goodcuz no room for fans so he couldnt play it to long
kinda funny that i get btter info on here then i got on a ps3 forum

got off topic haha
could any1 list the differences between 40 and 80 gig?

As far as I know the only difference between the 40 and 80 is that the 80 has larger storage and can play PS2 games, I also believe that it up grades the PS2 games so it has a better look. Kind of like the higher end dvd players make regular dvds look better than the cheap players.

Just to throw this in I'm all about PC's to I'm sitting behing my lapy its a Dell M90 Precision Workstation. 19" monitor, 2.33Ghz, 4Gb Ram, Quadro FX 3500 512MB Video, 100GB HD 7200RPM, ect. Ya this thing cruses. I'm sure glad I didn't pay for it since it was a $4,452 bill. Its pretty much at my side all the time.

I know when I bought mine I got a rebate for 5 free Blueray DVD's which is about a $130 bonus and the PS3 came with superman in blueray. You'd have to check to see if Sony is still offering it but I would think they still are.

yea larsen they still are...my friend bought one about 2 weeks ago and it had a thign in it for the 5 free bluerays
