and as this project unfolds and see more out there for this model ill install it just cuz! lol

although my body hasn't arrived yet (hoping tommorows order shows a sign) of the R35 Skyline, i am having a difficult time deciding which paint scheme to use. With that being said... i usually get frustrated when i see this kind of post made, but for the first time i just don't know?? lol

which shall i use? i don't want to paint my body all to have it not stand out seeing as id have to wait out another few weeks before i were to recieve a 2nd GTR body and aswel as the forking out another $40+ for body/supplies to paint.

help appreciated!

Rear driveblet failure!!!

After breaking the rear belt i removed the unit from the housing and modified the 2-halves so another rock doesnt get caught up and rip the belt apart. :p

while i had the differential out i took it apart and cleaned it up, then using CA locked the gears permenently.
Now I'm out of a drifter until the belts arrive but dayuuuum was it fun for that 15 minutes before it blew apart. :D

Modified the ackeman steering
There was signifigant slop in the steering, all original plastic ballends were removed and new Axial balljoints were replaced.

still waiting on my rear drive belt to arrive at my LHS but a few minor details on the progress.

Painted the TE37 wheels

Toned down the springs as technically you want/need softer springs to drift with. (not shown in pic above)

Ordered a One-way differential today, this gives the feel for an Ebrake when drifting.

Just tore down this chassis to modify bulkheads to both Fr/Rr, move/organize electronics, etc...

took the plunge earlier today...

ordered:
HPI Drift assist (Dbox)
Advan A038 tires
Firm inserts
New foam bumper

still with all that ive ordered for this Sprint2 and still no parts arrived yet? Booooo!! lol

installed my NVS this morning (car still unassembled & awaiting parts) and still needs a connection to a powersource aswel as micro deans to the lights so i can remove the body easily. I'm debating underglow neons for this sucker yet? :p

Drifting is yet another addiction which is uncontrollable even by intervention....damn RC's lol

this get interesting.....
reading the instructions off the NVS system from Axial, to notice that there are several various female plus in the system which control things seperate from one another.
Headlights - own circuit
Tail lights - own circuit
Signal lights - 2CH's (Fr/Rr)

AUX (x6) - to run lights wherever which will work for my when i run my underglow system using the tutorial i found using plexi.

so all i need here now is to know what resistor ill need to use.

x5 LEDs Rear
x5 LEDs Front
x5 LEDs both Left and Right of chassis.

hmmmm

looks like its going to be fun. the D-box breaks my heart but will add to the plug and go ability of it to be fun.

from what ive heard of the D-box...its more a hinder then an assist, so i think ill be opting out from this one. Spend my $$$ elsewhere needed.

cant wait to bomb this thing sideways down my local track - damn LHS would get their crap together and get my parts :(

update:

still waiting for parts, held up in customs..... ugh

waiting for:

Advan A038 tires (4)
Firm inserts (4)
Nissan R35 lexan
One-way diff (spool)
Wheelie king lockouts for rear diff
Drift assist (??)

ordering tommorow:

hex/hub set (simulated rotors/calipers) found on E10 models
Tune kit type-A (FMIC/Exhaust) set

itll be nice to start ripping into this thing soon!! :D

also will be fabricating my own difuser for the rearend running off the original bumper position.

Parts arrived today for this DriftR!

One-way differential installed

FMIC installed
188810_203769676318736_100000571166430_727900_5580545_n.jpg

still working on the rear exhaust, tires, inserts but biggest task is modifyng these brake rotors/calipers from the E10 now.

more to come! :sniper2:

How~to:
Installing E10 brake Rotors & Calipers onto Sprint2

After looking at the set up on the sprint2 chassis i figured it was possible to do this mod with some thought process along with fabrication to complete this project. With that being said lets begin....

HPI E10 brake set
*These are the only parts needed from this set.
188805_203782329650804_100000571166430_728123_153478_n.jpg

Step 1

On the suspension arms there are excess plastic at the end of each arm. Cut and file all 4 arms down flush to the carrier as possible.
197492_203796046316099_100000571166430_728347_8223492_n.jpg

Step 2

Using a 5/32" bit ,drill through all 4 rotors and this will allow them to slide over the first part of the drive axle.
The rotors will not complety slide over at this point because the other section of the drive axle gets bigger (between the hex pin and carrier).
197492_203796049649432_100000571166430_728348_2825462_n.jpg

Step 3

Cut off the nubs at all 4 rotors (these are what the E10 use for the wheel hex). They are no longer needed for this project.
197492_203796052982765_100000571166430_728349_4885620_n.jpg

Step 4

Making the slot for the pin/Hex
Make sure to cut a slot at all 4 rotors deadcenter whereas the pins will go.
197492_203796056316098_100000571166430_728350_8190566_n.jpg

Step 5

Gradually work the slot in the rotor until the pin pops into it.
197492_203796059649431_100000571166430_728351_2779340_n.jpg

Step 6

Now with all the work already done to the rotors, its getting closer but attempting to install the wheel turns out the thread isnt quite far out enough.
199572_203797072982663_100000571166430_728352_2100138_n.jpg

so now its time to start filing down the hex itself on each rotor until its flush against the backside of the wheel-hex.

189871_203803489648688_100000571166430_728381_4618854_n.jpg

Take your time with this stage, filing as you go and making sure the rotor sits flush on the backside of each wheel.

More to come.....

Supplement:

At step3,
you need to drill a 3/16" hole at the backside of each rotor but DO NOT GO STRAIGHT THROUGH THE ROTOR!!!!
only go deep enough to allow for the back half of the drive axle to pass through the rotor.

:p

update:

appears that these rotors/calipers wont fit on the Sprint2 ,however.... not a total loss here!

these will fit on the Sprint1 using the same methods as above.

GTR35 lexan arrived yesterday...
Trimmed the body to fit this lowriding beast, mounted rear spoiler and cut opening in front bumper for visual on FMIC.

next, mask off hood for preparation for Carbon hood, then paint body

thanks man!
still need to clean a few things up, install the fatty chrome muffler to hang from the rear and find me some Dori decals.

mounted the rear part of the bumper (lower)
i was going to slap a rice cannon under this body but i figured this would look better on a R35 anyhow, but ill save my rice cannon for the R32 body i ordered for Sprint1 i own.

206282_209526159076421_100000571166430_775593_7488159_n.jpg

still have to mount the sideview mirrors, clean edges etc up and install the light pods which i still need to paint silver.
