Hi,

Just wanted to guibve you guys a heads up on this part.

I bought one of these OFNA fan flywheels and found a problem while installing it, actually when putting the clutch springs on. the pilot nut sits too low on this flywheel so the springs don't mate up with the groove on the nut, the groov is too low. How low you ask, well a couple washers would do the trick. You can see the difference in these pictures

here's the problem OFNA part I am having a problem with, note the area where the pilot nut touches the wheel, there is no raised area like in the HPI one

Here is HPI's, see the raised area in the middle

this one looks like it would be ok too

I don't have any washers that will fit "exactly" in place, at the kind of rpm's on this I wouldnt want any slop in it at all. Also the springs are pretty far off, I wouldnt trust it as it is. Guess I will have to go back to the HPI flywheel...

I took some pictures, 1st is properly fit with HPI's flywheel and with the small washers under the nova shoes.

this is the OFNA fan flywheel, I even removed the washers to help the fit, but it was still cutting it close. I don't trust it this way.

well thanks for the heads up!!! it may just help someone else thats trying to use that part!!:resp:

John, you can use the washer from the glow plug to shim the pilot nut. Thats what I did with mine using the mugen 1.1 springs. I'm going to replace the nut with the mugen but its working good for now.

i use the robsion one and it works but yea try shimming the piliot nut so it works out

Thanks guys, I will give that a try. Just hate to remove the springs from the clutch shoes again :) actually I found a very easy trick to putting them on. If you just use that spacer that goes on last, take it and slide it on right on top of the pilot nut it is a lot easier to get the spring on the nut.
