hi

A few days ago i have noticed that the pice of plastic where the head of the rotostarter goes in (i think it's called backplate) it was moving when i was starting the truck and i have thighten the two screwes that i have seen without removing the engine.
Today when i have started the truck i have notticed that my roto was spinning without turning the motor and just brefly engaging the motor...and later in the day it started more to spin freely than to engage the motor.
What should i do loosen a little those 2 screws or remove the motor ...and disasemble everything to see what's wrong? I have to mention that i own the car since 2 month ago and i have never disasembeld a thing on it (burnt 1,3 galons)

cheers

Sounds like your One Way Bearing is slipping. A common problem. Either the OWB or starter shaft is becoming worn, or teh oil fromt he fuel is causing it to slip. I've tried cleaning mine and even roughing the shaft with fine sandpaper adn nothing has completely gotten rid of it for me! It always seems to come back. Pre-heat your motor to eliminate this as an issue. When the metal warms up and expands the OWB will no longer slip and will work as it should. On cold starts my pull start will still turn the motor over once on each pull. The same will happen with a roto. Just 'tap' the power button on and off instead of holding it down to repeatedly bump the motor.

I have found a solution for my problem. I have changed the OWB and after half a gallon the problem popped again and it was slipping like hell. The solution was very simple i began pre heating and after 20 seconds of preheating the car starts at the first button push.
I have found the best solution to pre heat in the field...i am using a gas letcon (i don't know if you understand what it is). It's a device used in electronics for soldering little parts. It is very small and it creates a little but intense flame.
I will give u a link to understand how it looks
