Hi all,

What do you all recommend for printable masks? What I'm referring to is this, I have a logo or image on my computer that I want to print out onto some type of mask. Then cut the image out and place that as my mask for painting. What are people using for this type of work? I have use Frisket film. But not 100% happy with the results. Not getting great lines 100% of the time.

You can see in the pics what I am talking about. The SD came out very bad. This body came out 80% ok. But good for bashing I guess!

Thanks,

Have you tried going to a vinyl sign shop? Call them and find out what kind of file they need to cut your masks. You should be able to find a file convertor on the web somewhere. Just create the file with the reverse image on it and have them cut it out. I'm working with one right now for a few images I want airbrushed on my next body. I'll post some pictures of it when I get around to painting it.

A square foot of vinyl masks is going to cost me roughly $20. I honestly don't know how the vinyl will like the paints I am using, but I will keep you in the loop as I go.

I am in the process of painting a body now for my RC10GT. I googled some images I liked and liuqid masked them to the inside of the body. Using paint on my computer I resized and flipped the images as needed. It's pretty slow going. Neohio is thinking exactly what I was except the last time I had something done it was expensive. If I could get a good price I would definetly use vinyl custom cut.

I'm looking at getting into my own vinyl cutter. They can be had cheap enough. If I get one I'll let you all know, I need someone to practice on! You guys might as well benefit from it.

Or you could try something like this for about $300:

Thanks bmc, but that is a cutter. I can do the cutting myself. But you got me close to something. Reading the ads from the craftrobo you have to use a printer for your image anyways, and use the cutter to cut them out. So can I use this Sheet Vinyl Package below in a printer and cut the image out myself? Will this be a good mask. I think I am getting close.

What would you consider a good price? I might be able to help...

Oh yeah...We bought a killer plotter (cutter) in January, the same one I used to die-cut the forum decals. I've never sold (or bought) masks, so I have no idea what they should cost...I'll have to work on that. But yes, I should be able to make pretty much anything.

What is Die-cut decals?

You see the body above. I'm going to do something smilier on a Hot Bodies Dogde Durango Body. I will need 3 text type, one line type, and 9 logo type maskes. What do you think?

Thanks,
Nick
