Pipe installation

Just installed the HPI tuned pipe (86138) but I wonder if the header and muffler should be attached to each other or if it is just enough to place both inside the silicone coupling? As I see it there is no way to attach the two parts to each other but still wanted to ask.

Also, in the plastic original pipe setup I had this piece, do I need to use this also for the tuned pipe?

No, I don't believe they need to physically meet inside the coupling. Just so the lip on the exhaust and header are inside the grooves for the zip ties. The seal comes from those closing in around the pipes.

That part you've shown should be not needed.

Actually, you don't want them to meet or they will vibrate and rub on each other causing electrical noise. Metal on metal vibration annoys electronics.
