Well I want to make the X style roll bar and engine protector stronger to keep my new motor safe so my plan was to do this mod here- http://www.rcbasher.com/savengprot.html

But me being me I wanted to improve that and I think I did. I used some upper A-arms in stead of the way it was done above.
First I reassembled TVP's and motor, rear bulk, trans and radio box to make sure I didn't have any clearance issues with tank, pipe or throttle linkage.
Looks good so here is what I did.

I still have some minor trimming to do with dremel to clear head and throttle linkage a bit more but will wait until I get truck rebuild done.
I'm happy with the results and feel that it is much stronger with no deflection.
This is part of my overhaul thread at my site. It's a long thread and would be a pita to repost over here but I did want to share this part with you guys.
Link to my build is here

Very cool Piney. :resp: I saw that link on rcbasher and I was going to the same thing, except with rods cut off an extra rollbar.

Then I realized that my LCG chassis keeps the head just under the rollbar and body mounts, so I still have that extra rollbar...

That was my plan too as I have two roll bars but when looking though my extra stuff I saw the a-arms and went mmmmmm lol
My IRC's are LCG too.

I was thinking about the original mod myself but yours definitly seems like it will be much sturdier. And with the way I beat on mine I need the extra sturdy additions. Great idea thanx for sharing!!

I must say thank you to all who gave me rep and nice comments!!!!
I'm glad you liked it.
The only flex I see now is from rear shock tower so I hope this will hold up and I hope to find out soon.

Dave

Yeah but that is just TOO easy. You didn't go around your elbow to get to your :moon: at all to do that one. Where's the fun in that? LOL

Oh I tried that before Jester and it still flexes downwards with pressure if you know what I mean-and on missing body clips I know but I'm still in the middle of an overhaul and truck was just mocked together for clearance purposes and I just wanted to take some pics. It's all apart again and I hope to get it back together this week-check out link to see progress please.

Well sorry for the long time between posts/updates.
So far so good! I have had several hard landings on the roof from 10+ feet and not a scratch on the head or any other damage to rear shock tower or center roll bar.
The only problem others might have with this mod is that you have to have body higher than normal but I'm lucky that I like the look of a higher body.
