Sami,

Maybe all over the place, but hitting all the key points (stuff I didn't even think about), Funny you mentioned the holographic paint, I was wanting to ask you about it but figured I asked too many questions already, I hate being the one asking questions and not knowing enough to help anyone "yet".

I am very very very glad you said about backing those clear paints with a solid, I would have not known to do it. I guess it is imporntant to get the correct background color's for the color changing or holographic paint (I will try the ho;lographic (actually I might try that on the masked parts and other color changing colors on the rest, still not sure) Oh, is it better to use a darker or lighter color for backing them, or does it matter?

I haven't double checked but I may not have to drill or trimm anything on this body, it is the one I got with the kit. I think there's already holes in it. I really like that body cause it kind of reminds me of the toyota truck (I have had 5 of those toyota 4x4's since 85" and love them, I had a Jeep before that too I like jeeps too) I haven't seen any toyota 4x4 savage bodys yet.

Thanks

John

As far as backing Its really up to you, It will change the effect depending on the base color. Just a trial and not really error thing. I have done both dark and light colors. Don't worry, someday you will be able to assist as well, just like your electronics background, you could help me if I needed it I'm sure. Knowledge and experience comes with time my friend. I don't know if I really know anything helpful, or worthwhile, I just give my .02 and if it helps someone thats great.

Sami,

Thanks, that Bug is awesome, best one on there! I like that type of paint job I don't know what you call it but you have to look at it more than once to see what's going on. Then again sometimes just one color looks great too. I was thinking it would be hard to really see those holographic or color change ones in a pic, maybe a video would work but I am sure nothing beats real life.

One of these days I am going to get one of thse bug frames and paint it up like herbie from the movie, it's what my neice named an old electric rc truck I had (she liked to be chased by it, but not the nitro one 🙂.

Sami, do you know of a good, inexpensive, airbursh starter kit you would recomend? I would like to use one, or do you think it's just as good to use spray cans and brushes? I guess we need brushes in some cases anyway.

Thanks, you've been very helpful,

John

Thanks John that one is the last one I painted and think it came out pretty cool. I believe Testors makes an airbrush kit that comes with the aerosol canned propellant. Don't know much about the quality of it as I've had professional ones for several years but I'd assume it would work fine for doing these bodies. I don't use brushes on my paintwork but I figure they would work fine being painted on the inside I don't think the brushstrokes would show very well. I was gonna do my bug all hippie like peace sign pot leaf flower power yaknow but got bored one night and that is what it came out like the next morning.

Hi,

I have been taking this truck out the last couple days. I really underestimated it's power in the first run. thing I don't understand, the last time I took it out before I added all the aLU it was tuned up pretty good for 20% fuel it was running around 285, after I added all the ho's I took it out for 1/2 tank it was running so baddly I shut it down and put it up, I really thought it was cause of the weight. today I took it out and found it is running really rich so I started tuning it, I don't know if it is because I am using 25% fuel or what but it was really rich Now it easy pulls wheelies and goes like a bat out of h311 and only got to 230 I could probably go leaner but it is doing really ell the way it is now. strange?

any comments on why the tuning changed so much, I really don't think I could have touched either needle while installing it/

Hi John, Different Barometric pressure, Humidity, Air Temperature, All effect the way these motors run. Your tuning can change dramaticlly from day to day, Even In the course of a day. I've had my trucks tuned great before and had to retune them before I was done running because of the weather changing( granted they usually don't hold together long enough for that to happen but it has lol),. You will have to plan on retuning every time you run your truck sometimes you won't but, most times you can count on it. Hope this helps.

http://www.rchobbies.org/cars_eng-tuning.htm Hey john don't know if you've seen this. cant beleive I got it here but scroll down and there is a chart that tells what way to tune for different conditions, Might help.

Thanks Sami!!! that's really nice, some of it suprised me, like leaning it in hotter air and leaning it in cooler air temp's.

I would give you some more rep's for that if it would let me..
