heres a question:

If i put tape on a white wing and drop it in black dye for an hr or so will it leave a tape mark?

I believe it will, but not a crisp line. I believe it will bleed under somewhat, and not in any particular fashion.

kool as that would be better,I'm wanting to do a lightning effect

If that is the case, and you have an airbrush, or know somebody who does it, I would airbrush the dye on! You can get SWEET lightening results with an airbrush!
