not shifting could it be my tires

My trans won't shift to second out in a new trans still the same thing. It started doing this when I put a set of 40 big joes on instead of my stock MT tires. Could the tires be causing the problem. What do you guys think.

I had a set of Big Joes on my rtr and never had any trouble with it shifting..

First thing I did on both. This trans is old too maybe it is time to fork out the cash for a new three speed

its the shift points ... different tires/heavier tires wont build the rpm up as fast and easy so you need to adjust the shift points ..if its not shifting adjust more till it is.....

yep. bud of mine runnin stock XL's wouldnt shift right. dint adjust points, switched to a smaller diam tire & it ripped through gears like mad.

gotta adj your points for the larger circumference tires (sometimes)

yep exactly... and might need a lil graphite lead in the adjustment holes so the spring and ball bearing moves smoother....

It does spool up but won't wind out.
