I recently required this truck, and after tons of research am still confused on a few things. I'm really hoping you guys could help guide me, as this is my first RC vehicle.

Question #1: Which model is this? I know its a HPI Savage, but I've been told 21, 25, and SS.
Question #2: After soaking the piston over night, replacing the glow plug, and fresh nitro fuel, the motor runs like a top, however it is shooting fuel out of the muffler while running. Is this normal? Also I don't believe the motor is stock, it reads OFNA .26
Question #3: I received the truck knowing it needed some front end parts. From what i've gathered it needs the front upper control arm, dogbone, and possibly some pieces bent back. Where would you recommend buying these parts from? I've talked to a few local shops who all said they would have to order the stuff online, so I figured I might as well just do it myself. Are these parts universal from other models? What length dogbone would I need up front? It looks like the axle is still in tact.

Thank you!

If i were you I would give that truck a good teardown and refresh anything that needs it.... invest in a rollbar and head protector cage for it also, as for the fuel in the exhaust is it unburned fuel or just oil residue from normal combustion?
for parts look on Ebay or RC Planet.com also A Main racing carries lots for the savage line and most all parts interchange between models.....

Welcome to the forum!

That could be an ss, 21, or 25. They were all very similar. My vote is ss.

Most of the parts from other models are interchangable.

Well, if the OP still have the original clutch. The 21 is a two shoe and the 25 is a three shoe clutch. Also on the axial dog bones, the 25 has o-rings on the end of the dog bones while the 21 does not. I am not sure of the differences between the 25 and the SS. I would differently do what Jam Racing 1 says, tear it down, clean it up and take stock of what is broke and go from there. Also check the bearings and replace the ones that are bad or even better, replace them all. You can get a good set from http://www.fasteddybearings.com/compare/124/1404

Thanks everyone for the responses. I did order the suspension parts I need from Ebay, so when they get here i'm going to tear into this thing!
