So, I am new to HPI and vehicular racing RC (prior flying wing and various other aerial RC user)... I got a 5SC electric on a trade via craigslist. I quickly hit a rock and broke a front axle. Replaced axle and noticed significant wear on the tire hex nut inside where the pin locks the tire (see image).
More to fix later I figured... Anyhow, after replacing one axle, I ran the unit 10min when the other front wheel came off while driving. For this side, it looks like the component that threads onto the axle and holds the tire onto the axle/chassis is stripped internally. In other words, the part in my hand that goes into the outer part of tire and threads onto the axle is stripped internally and looks like it stripped the other (not newly replaced) axle. It looks like a ball bearing assembly that has an internal thread to screw onto the axle...? Anyone know what this part(s) is that I need to fix it?
As an aside I downloaded the manual but the specific part isn't in the image... Weird.
Thanks
