Hey guys, after doing some research, i've decided to go with the Axial .28RR for my savage 25. seems to be the best bang for my buck. I have a few ?'s. does everything need to be replaced, or can I just pull it off my 25 motor? (ex. flywheel, clutch shoes & springs, rondelle's, ball bearings, pilot nut, etc) I would think it would be in my best interest if I did, if so....does anyone know of a one-stop-shop to buy everything thing I need and have it all shipped to me at once? Any thoughs or comments please chime in!! THANKS!!

Good luck with the RR. Seems to be a hit or miss mill. Some have good luck and some don't. For the majority I think its good luck with them and they say it produces nice power.

If you want a better mill get the Associated .28 LRP. Easy to tune, reliable, great power, holds a tune and is roughly the same price as the RR. A better mill is the Picco P3 for $20 extra.

Your stuff will all bolt right up. What are you running for gears as you may want to go a little steeper on the CB.

Aluminum shoes are a great addition as well, otherwise the rest will bolt right up.

A great store is www.smfstore.com who the owner is a great member on there by the name of wrenchman AKA Nick. They have some of the best prices and the best customer service possible.

oh yeah, i wanted to get your thoughts on a few other things....I don't race, mostly bashing and just messin around. I'm not interested in lots of torque or top speed, just a nice combo of both (i do want to be able to pop wheelies on command though) any recomendations for CB, SG? and anything else u guys wanna throw at me before I jump into this please chime in!!

You will want to upgrade the clutch springs if your still using the stock .8 ones. Invest in some .9s if you plan to run carbon shoes and 1.0s if your going to run alloy shoes.
If its been a while since the bearings were replaced I would do that too. But the Flywheel, clutch bell and pilot nut will all be fine if not worn out. I like 16/49 for general bashing around. Good bottom end and the top isnt shabby either.

Thanks for the input Larsen, i'll take a look at the associated .28. I'm not dead set on the RR just seems to be a pretty good deal. I will completley seal up any motor I get (that seems to be one of the prob's with the axial) Its good to hear that my 25 stuff will bolt up. I was defiantley gonna upgrade the shoes...SG is stock. Should I go with a steel SG or change the tooth count on either SC or CB

sorry guys, i'm not asking the same thing on purpose, my page didnt refresh and i didn;t know there was already responses 🙂

smfstore.com shows to have the axial 28, is it the same as the 28RR? the pics look different from the RR? sorry if thats a dumb question!!

The one SMF is showing is the Spec 1S engine and it is different than the RR. People have had better luck with them but the RR is more powerful and a new design.

Personally I would stay with the stock plastic SG.

Put it this way you will be much happier with the LRP or Picco however you will not have to seal the Picco up.

thanks for your input larsen!! I'm trying not to rush into anything before I get valued opinions from here 🙂 but man its hard waiting, I want a new motor lol
