If it's cold where you are, I'd highly suggest waiting until it's above 60F outside before breaking it in. And even then, heating the head up to 100F before trying to start it. Picco's were a tight engine and required at least a gallon of fuel before the pinch would loosen up.

I have a picco 28 NIB that I never used.

Yes I plan on running around a half to a full gallon through it or break it until the pinch is gone it is 50 degrees outside but in my garage it is warm and I heat the motor up to 200 degrees and make sure it maintains to 220 while I'm breaking it in. I am starting on tank 5 this evening, this has been an easy going breakin., carb is fully sealed, you should get your picco up and going, great mill!!!!!

I got it for a good price from a guy on a different forum. I had intended on using it in my heavily modified aftershock (Losi LST) when the LRP28 in it died, but it never died and I sold the truck. I have an LRP30 in my savage and LRP28 in my revo with a spare LRP28 on a shelf... could be another 10 years before I crack open the box for the Picco. Maybe it will be a collectors item by then and I can sell it for more than I paid! 🙂

Yes a had a lrp .28 spec 3 this spring I broke in. But kept having half tank lean prob, so I put it in another savage and sold it.sofar this picco is amazing, to tune, and no half tank lean problem, I'm on tank 9 on break in and still hard pinch, may be a gallon of fuel through this one, darn smooth running too.

I have savage xl pipe and header on it and it loves it, I also have 3 speed tranny, and updated 29, and 9 gears, I also super lightened it, I'm into weight savings, I cut out the X bracing in lower front and rear mounts also making it easy to use roto start picco, I also took out x bracing on all A arms , and a few other area s. This is the first gen savage x 4.1, I've had since new, now 12 years old and run the heck out of it, and have never broke anything, no upright or A arms, it's still tough as heck and if any else see s this and reads it they will know it's been lightened and still durable

finally found info where to get picco products, ive been hunting for picco ,28 boost rotostart for my picco. Desoto racing in florida is, I guess the U S distributor, they are also the cheapest on nitro motors. New picco boost 5tr .28 boost is 210.00
