Hey guys i just installed a new pinion gear an it has a whine to it. Maybe its the slipper clutch slipping as i left that a lil loose. I finger tightend it with tool then backed off a hair. But could that noise also be gear mesh to tight ? Meant spur gear by the way,its bigger than the one that was on there. Also after a hard blip of the throttle for a loft of the front wheels it dies out. Helpful ideas. ?? And yes its also a new motor at that. Thanks again.

sounds as if the mesh is a bit tight, as for the slipper I run mine locked down tight, I do not back the nut off at all...
what gear did you install (tooth count) and is it a steel gear or just a replacement plastic gear.....
as for setting the mesh some use the paper trick, I personally just set mine by feel with just a slight tick of play between the teeth, make sure to check in 4 different places around the gear and after you final tighten the :ercm: mounting bolts...

Also if it is a steel gear the stock bell gear will not last too long as most of the Robinson steel gears are extra hard and the bell gear is not so it will fail
