Hey guys. I am pretty new and am wondering if there are any good mods I can make to my stock .28 over the summer while my good motor is in the truck. I use the stock in winter and an OS .30VG for summer.

If you've never done any engine mod before, I would say to port match your exhaust and get the gist of how it cuts.

i say if you haven't done an engine mod at leat 5 times.....leave it alone....unless you have money like that.........

Yes, but matching the sleeve exhaust port to the block exhaust port can cause many engines to fail. There is alot of info out there on modding, alot of that info is bad. As I have said before "if you can't walk to the trash can, drop your engine in it and walk away, don't mess with it because chances are your first few will end up there"

well the first few i did i went mild on and then i took it to the next level. you do have to start somewhere, if its not worth anything to you go ahead and have at it. only thing you should do to the ehxaust port is raise it, and at that its already matched to the block

Thanks for all the input guys. I don't have buckets of money to throw away but I do consider this engine to be sacrificial if thats what has to happen to learn. But the cost/benefit needs to be there. So if I can manage to mod the engine in some way without destroying it what do I stand to gain? Are noteable power gains achievable? Or will it be a, "gee I think its faster but I am not sure" scenario. I understand I am the X factor but I need to know before possibly destroying it that if I get it right I will have a, "Damn thats awesome" moment.

Flow mods will gain you nothing in terms of power. You have to change the timing. This is where the knowledge comes in. Most of this information is not posted. how to do it is... What to do, is not.
