Here are 2 Emails I got from Chris Freeman at HPI, about the new diffs comming out for the flux. sound like cens to me.

Chris,

The information is correct. The part number for it is 102692. They are designed for the Savage FLUX and Savage XL. They can also be used on other savages as well. They should be available from your local hobby store the beginning of September. The MSRP is $45.00. The part will include the ring/pinion gear, diff case washer, one pinion bearing, screw shaft, case screws and shims.

Thanks,

Chris,

Put simply they don’t break. They are a larger tooth than anything ever produced which keeps more surface area in contact. In testing we broke other things as a result of them being so strong. This was of course due to us being on an extremely high traction surface. But overall we have still never stripped a diff.

Sounds like they're still going to use the horrid 10x16mm bearing on the cup side. :stressed: :stressed: :stressed: :duh: :duh: :duh:

My question is, why would they discontinue the original diff gears if the new ones have different teeth number? I'm pretty sure there's a guy out there wanting to stick with stock gearing.

IMHO, the reason why they discontinued the original diff is bcoz the gear ratio from old 1 to new 1 is quite same (43/13 = 3.3076, while 29/9 = 3.2222), which i calculated will only reduce torque by less than 3% from stock 1 (if your savvy is lighter, then the value will become lower). and when they reduce the teeth number, the nearest possible number to get almost same ratio is 29/9. just my 2 cent..

thanks for posting necro, the difference in gearing is sure to have little effect on the amount of torque produced by the flux.
