Ok some of the guys from the on-road track have decided in a couple weeks to go to this track out in Avon Park, FL. Here is a video of the track.

AVON PARK TRACK:

I have only raced on-road up and down the street and some in an open field.
1- I know my truck is way-to-low. was going to buy another set of shocks and swap them out. Have been thinking about the CEN shocks (4). Or would (8) regular Savage shocks be better for this track?
2- Then do i want a stiff setup or not?
3- The tires are the big concern, I have the orginal Savage X tires, a set from my ex- T-Maxx and a set of Duratrak Street tires.
Funds are tight, just purchased a STS D30M. Any suggestions? Thanks!!!

Okay, my thoughts:

Use 8 HPI Aluminum shocks or 8 CEN shocks. I recommend 40 weight for HPI Alum. and 20-25 weight for CEN shocks. Theres no reason you shouldn't run 8 besides weight or lack of funds. HPI shocks are pricey so check eBay for cheap sets but make sure they are hpi shocks and not Hotbodies.
Okay as for tires use a Bow Tie tread, it's been proven time and time again. Use a dish rim they're strong and super light. Make sure they are at least 1/2 offset and have 17mm hubs, that way you can use your existing hubs, the offset just makes your ride wider so it's more stable.

Heres some links to get you started.

Prol-Line Racing

Velocity 17mm 1/2 Offset
They come is white, yellow, and black. They also utilize your 17mm hex.

Pro-Line Crime Fighter MT Standard Series

Pro-Line Bow Tie

HPI Aluminum Threaded Shock Set

CEN Shocks

Browse through eBay, as far as I know the Hellfire springs work with CEN shocks so you can switch it for a softer spring.

Now some of the guys at the track have said i do not need to run all 8 shocks when racing on-road.is this correct? could i use say 4 CEN shock on road, then yank the fuel tubing out of the savage 8 shaocks and use them for the dirt.

i intend to use 4 CEN for dirt track racing, with the soft springs...they're beefy enough to handle it...

and then, in a perfect world, once you get REALLY good at landing all your jumps, the shocks shouldn't have to work very hard anyway...

Yeah 8 isn't necessary it's more of a personal preference if you ask me. I would just recommend 8.
