I need your help guys. I have the new savage X 4.6, idle is good. When I'm running it, it's good. No lean or not rich. The smoke is also good. But as soon as I stop for around 5 seconds it just goes super lean like crazy. I have tried restarting from the beginning with flushing everything but it just goes back to super lean. When I checked my piston the top is Black not brownish but black. Any help would be appreciated. Thank you in advance.

Might be an air leak somewhere. Thats what it sounds like. The half tank lean only ups mine about 10° or so. Check the fuel line, i had an issue there with my old savage. Put zipties on the fuel line at the tank, engine, and filter

Thank you Jay F. That's the first thing I will check when I get home. It's the same answer that I got when I posted the same question in Facebook.

Check it out. Hopefully thats it and its minor. Theres a tread on here about sealing an engine. Hopefully its just the fuel line, nice and simple fix. If its on the engine, its not too bad, some red high temp sealant in a few places and you'll be good

If it's the engine then I guess it will be rebuilt over the weekend sealed with the high temp sealant.

No problem. That guide was suggested to me awhile back when my revo was eating glow plugs. An air leak must have been the issue cuz it hasn't burned one since. I was so enamored by the guide I did it to the rest of my engines.

Yes I found the odd not so tight head bolt too. Best to check them before a run and every 2nd tankfull but it never occurred to me to check the in-line filters , as I do have one stubborn engine that's hard to tune to run below 1/2 tank I'm gunna try some tiny rubber o rings where they screw together and see if that solves my issues

Sorry bud, I doubt little "O" rings are going to solve the notorious HTL problem.
