I finished building my Savage X SS two days ago. Here are some pics of the building process! (I realize there is no "final result" pic, I'll add those as soon as I get back home).
I did the engine's break-in yesterday and next I'll get to the tuning part! If you look closely, you can see there is only one pair of shocks on the front; I broke the cap o-ring for one, and the other has a microscopic hole where it was attached to the mold, which makes it leak like crazy (as you can see in the blurry pics below). I sent an e-mail to HPI's customer support to get a replacement, I wonder how long it will take before I get the parts and jump the sh%$t out of that truck!! :jamout:
I ordered the truck from RC La Shop in Québec city, in the province of Québec. Seems like THE place to shop if you live in the area. I bet they could ship to the rest of Canada too, if someone cares to check (their website is down currently, I ordered by phone). Their prices are real good: I bought my Savage X SS for $478 CAD, and my LHS' sold it between $600 and $700 CAD). ******* exchange rate... lol. The shipping also was good, they used Dicom Express and it cost approximalely 20-something$, the next day the package was at my door.
The beer box worked well as an improvised shock support!
