here is my version of the mid tank build

this conversion has been done on a standard length savage x chasis

parts needed

1 x mugen mbx5 fuel tank plus posts
1 x traxxas t-maxx battery box
1 x hpi firestorm battery box
2 x hpi savage x radio boxes - you may only need one but i messed up
1 x alloy plate cut to fit into were radio box was
2 x standard alloy engine braces

hopefully if i can post photos then the photos should show the rest. CAN ANYONE SHOW ME HOW

think i found out how to upload photos.

here is the first were you can see everything in place. mugen tank mounted. traxxas t maxx battery box in place. you will see from some of the photos that i shaved the box ever so slightly to allow clearance for the tank

In this photo you can see that i have mounted the t maxx battery box. this was mount by drilling two holes through the centre of the battery box and mounting this to the alloy plate i made up. you can see on the side were i have shaved the box ever so slightly for clearnace. also drilled a hole and mounted an antenna mount. the on/off swith fit in the box and this box is used to mount my rx

in this photo you can see were the battery is mounted. this is an hpi firestorm battery box whichs fits perfect in between the standard savage shocks. i mounted this by making an alloy plate - the blue bit in the photo and mounting this into the top screws were the savage x diff screws are. the battery box was then bolted to this alloy plate

in these pictures you can see how i mounted the steering servo. i cut up a savage x battery box so that i could mount the servo in its original servo mount, this was laid flat under the alloy plate. i had too make up a new steering linkage but it seems to work fine and as you can see just clears the dogbone. also you can see were i extended the lead and run the wires to the front of the truck. this wire will be cable tied so that i does not catch any moving parts. hope the picture shows what i mean

steering servo mounted underneath

cant seem to upload anymore, hopefully you can see from the images on photobucket how i have done it. any questions please ask

what battery box is your t/b servo in? part #? link?

the t/b servo is mounted in a cut down savage x battery box. in the savage x battery box there are 3 areas to mount servo, i basically cut this out and trimmed it with a dremal. this was mounted next to the engine using the holes left from the origoinal fuel tank mounts.

hope that helps, look at the pictures and you will see what i mean

cheers ryan
