Hey Guys!!

Long time no read or write!! Just been way too busy unfortunately. I have a question for you all. After a total dumb-*** move thinking that the screw on the end of the crank that holds the clutch bell in place was loose, I tried tightening it only to have it break off. So I've decided to pull the crank and replace it. (I have the stock F 4.6) Now if I'm going as far as pulling the crank I'm thinking that I should be replacing a few other parts such as piston and sleeve as well, just because I have it apart. What other parts should I be replacing? Con rod, bearings, etc? After this is re-built I think it might be a spare and replace it with an LRP. Thanks.

You may be able to get the screw out. Try a punch to get it out.

How many gallons do you have threw the motor?

The piston and sleeve will cost roughly ~$60 and a Crank is ~$20. You should also replace the bearings which will be at least ~$25 and the rod should be replaced another ~$20 +Shipping. by the time you have it rebuilt you will have the price of a new mill into it.

I would try to get the screw out if possible and run it.

A Left hand drill bits work best for that little screw. Just start drilling (counter clockwise) with no head it has no tension holding it in. It will back itself out... Other than that under 3 gals just run it no sleeve etc over that it comes to wear on the con rod bushings if it needs to be replaced Piston/ sleave is done if you have little to no pinch. I say run it into the ground and get a new mill IMO only...
