So I think that after destroying three clutch bells and 3 spur gears :stressed: I have finally figured out what may be causing the damage. I have meticulously set my gear mesh every time and still kill a gear fairly quickly. Looking at the plate that my motor mount is screwed to, I noticed that there are what can only be described as scuff marks from the engine moving or shifting during runs. I tighten the screws down as far as I think is safe without stripping them. I'm thinking about options for preventing my new motor mount from sliding on the plate:

1) I could Super Glue it down during the gear mesh setting and that might be the last little bit to keep it from moving.:Xfingers: However, this would restrict the swapping of clutch bells.

2) I could take some coarse sandpaper and really scuff the plate and the mounting side of the motor mount so create some friction and lock tite the hell out of the screws and crank them down once and just leave it. :dunno:

3) I could drill new holes in the plate and once the engine is set, screw an aluminum bar along the sides of the motor mount and then tighten them down. There is a great benefit of this: I could mark and pre-set different gear mesh for different gear combos and I could also make sure the motor is in perfect alignment! :10:

What does everybody think?

😎 And GO...

the solution i used to your problem is use slightly longer screws for your motor mount put washers on them and locktite them in, then crank them down tight one of the few places on my truck where i use the old L shaped allan key so i can grab it with a pair of pliers to get extra leverage on it.
