What is the best way to decide which tank to use?

Do most people keep the original tank or buy a new one?

If you suggest new, can you provide a link please...

Thanks

Most people use other tanks part of the reason is to eliminate the half tank lean issue with the stock tank. Pretty much just find a tank that will fit where your gonna put it sizewise and the volume you want . As far as a link search the archives there are a few threads in there on the subject. and I'm sure there are others here that can get you what info you need. I'm not all that good at getting links up,sorta puter stupid, but getting better.:frustrated:

Any tank that you can get to fit. I have used the HPI tank the matrix tank and a mugen tank for mods. Half tank lean is not do to the tank it is tank position. Further more half tank lean isn't. It is full tank rich. It is do to tank height and the amount of back pressure on the tank. fill the tank full you run half tank rich. when the pressure equalizes you get normal engine fuel pressure. After that you only fill to the half way point when the engine is running. you only tune at half a tank. The only time you fill the tank full is on the first run. My os and surefire didn't suffer from this but the HPI 4.6 did.

Yep my STS doesn't get bothered by it but the new Savage X 4.6 does.......terribly.

Longer run times than a Savage's 160cc tank will allow? Or are you talking about compared to not filling the Savage tank all the way?

Nope I'm saying you can use a 220cc tank for a midtank mod. Some use bigger tanks other may use a tank smaller than 160cc. Really preference, I'm going to use the 220cc tank when I do the mid tank.

I have to say that 99.9% of the mid tank mod is tank protection and weight transfer. Depending on how you do the mod and the tvp's you use your tank maybe higher than the carb or lower. The one I just did for Trixter is higher than the carb. But it is a full sized savage tank. As for the Full tank rich that is quoted from John Schultz from HPI. I do agree with his assessment of it.

I bought the rd logics aluminum tank and it says that you need a certain rd logics aluminum tank if you are running the x 4.6. Can I still use it or are they just being really precise?

Not sure on that one but I can say this. The savage X,ss x, x 4.6 all use the same tank and mounts. Why it would be different is anyones guess. But the part numbers for the last 5 or 6 model of Savages for the tanks are all the same.

I have That tank on one of my trucks and its no different than the stock Other than It's alum. and bigger. I say ignore that and run it. You will need a lid though they don't come with them, I pulled the one off my busted stocker and it works fine

I used the 150cc MGT tank on mine because it has dual pick-up and wont run out of fuel while upside down.

Not sure if your done the build but it depends on how "BIG" you want to go..

The stock Savage tank is 160cc ? and if you do the OFNA 250cc tank mod you get an extra 90cc of fuel 🙂

nothing wrong with diggin up the past, theres lots of good info there. at least this means your searching opposed to just asking questions. good on ya bud, i was just poking fun:blah:
