Hi everyone.
I am thinking about designing custom TVP's, and having them laser cut some place (which one depends on quantity). Some places aree better if I am only making for myself, others are better if I making at least 10 sets (can all be different). It all depend on how many other people want some. IF I sell them, it will be at my cost (not looking to profit), rounding to the nearest $5.

Anyhow, on to the design. I am planning to make at least 1 set for myself.
I will be making several differnt designs:
The first is a dedicated brushless platform designed around the kershaw designs gearbox. It has the the length and CG of the FLM ext. LCG TVP, but is modified to allow the installation of the kershaw gearbox WITHOUT it sticking out the bottom. It is also designed to have the gearbox mounted backwards, so the motor is in front of the tranny, rather than behind. The ESC sits right in front of the motor (over the steering cam), and the steering servo is mounted sirectly to the TVP like on the FLM TVP's. It also has space to keep your LiPo batteries INSIDE the tvp's right behind the tranny. This means you don't have to worry about them getting piereced, and can use soft packs worry free. Another feature of this tranny is a skull design cut into it near the front (see pics)

The other 2 designs will be mostly decided upon based on interest. Here are the options I have come up with:

1) A drop in replacement for the Savage Flux which will extend it to XL size, while maintaining full compatibility with all the other flux equipment (including the motor mount). It will NOT be an XL TVP with part of it cut out, but rather a full blown flux based design. It will not sacrifice any strength.

2)A TVP that resembles the FLM ext. LCG as far as geometries go, (LCG, length, holes, etc), but it will not have the same cut-out pattern. This TVP will have a custom design on it. Options include skulls, flaming horses, flaming heads, and more. If you want somehting in particular, let me know, and I will see what I can do.

3) I can take any TVP you currently have, and put a custom design/vutout on it. I can even put your name on. To do this, I will need a scan of the original set though.

If there is something else you think you might want, let me know, and I will see what I can do.

ALL designs will be made from 3/16" (4.7mm) 6061 T6 aluminum. 6061 T6 is STRONGER than untempered 7075-0. 7075-T6 is stronger, but much too expensive for this. The cost of material alone will be more than the cost of most retail TVP's (including FLM and IRC) if using 7075-T6

If enough people want sets (10 people), I may be able to sell these for as low as $50 per set. (approx $40 fab cost + $10 material)

EDIT: Forgot to put my main question in. Does anybody have a scanner that is willing to scan ANY set of TVP's for me. Need to get the hole pattern perfect. I don't have a scanner, so the 4 mounting holes might be off a tad bit. Thanks to anyone who helps me out in advance.

Great idea and great looking set of TVP's. The Kershaw Design Gear box should be stellar and a great platform to build off. Sounds like you have some great ideas as well.

The best way to make sure your dimensions are correct is to get them as close as you can measure then cut a prototype. The Savage TVP's are very hard to copy as there are many many holes that rely on each other to be in the correct position.

===> Also, before any sales go down of this you must contact Brian AKA hopalong https://www.hpisavageforum.com/forums/member.php?u=3 the site owner for manufacturer sales on this forum. <===

Good luck in your build and designs. Keep us informed as they look great so far.

Thank you for your input. I have all the other holes lined up based on actual measurements. My only problem is the 4 holes (2 per side), whci conenct the TVP to the bulkhead. It is not the hole position itself that is a problem, but the shape around it. The bulkhead is designed to have the TVP be able to seat in it before you even put screws in, which is why it is so important that the radius and angles there are perfect.

Also, with a high res scan of the TVP and a reference strip (precisely measured strip of paper (such as 11" from 8.5" by 11" paper) for a refernce dimension), it is relatively easy to make insanely accurate recreations, as long as you scale it right in the beggining. (autodesk inventor makes this easy).

I myself do not have access to a scanner, so anybody who provides a scan will be GREATLY appreciated.

I might also make any other simple things you might want cut from 3/16" thick sheet. Might as well put everything on one run, you know. Makes it cheaper for everyone.

I will be contact said person about selling them if anyone asks me to make them some. Unless I get a request from someone, I won't b e selling them. As soon as someone says they mught want one, I will contact Brian as reccomended.

Next month I'm making my custom frame for my savage X with my friends water jet!

Going with 3mm aluminum and tracing the template of the old ones and making it KOOL !
