Hey guys, today I will explain to you my style of break in. After a few engines, i found that break in doesnt need to be 12 tanks... 7 is all you need, but take it easy till you hit the gallon mark.
BEFORE YOU EVEN CRANK THE PULL START OR ROTATE THE ENGINE TAKE IT OUT OF TE KIT AND OPEN IT UP, CHECK FOR ANY DEBRIS IN THE ENGINE, AND SEAL THE ENGINE UP!!!!!
Ok lets get started!
-Tank one- Check your needles first off, you may have to lean it out till you can get it to the 200* mark. Once started run your rc at 1/2 throttle bursts of no more then 15 seconds at a time, a large parking lot with no one in it is where I recommend to do this. After about 5 mins of running, shut her down and let her cool down at BDC. Leave the rest of the gas in there, once cooled start it up again and run the rest of the tank dry.
-Tank two- Once your engine is cooled, put a fresh tank of fuel in here and fire it up. Make sure you get to your 200* mark (i range from 200*-220*) this time make passes of 1/2 throttle for 25 seconds. Do 5 or 6 passes, then shut it down, Once cooled at BDC start it back up and continue.
-Tank three- Ok once you are Cooled off, fire it up and lean it 1/8 turn, Try to get it to the 230* mark but not much hotter then that. Do some speed passes of 3/4 throttle for 15 seconds off, then 15 seconds idle, keep repeating till your tank is dry. This is where i recommend you take your plug out and make sure its still good, running this rich kills plugs...
-Tank four- Once you are all cooled off fire it up and get to about 230* mark, do the same as tank three but don't be afraid to get some full throttle blips in there for about 5 seconds.
-Tank five- Alright! Your almost there! Once again, i recommend taking a look at your plug, and seeing if its ok, if not i'd swap it out. Get some full throttle passes of about 10 seconds, try not to get over the 240* mark, Make a couple 20 second full throttle passes, followed buy 20 seconds idle. Make sure your temps are good, and your still a little rich.
-Tank six- Get your engine up to 250* by leaning you HSN 1/8 turn at a time, make some 20 second passes, then run sone 1/2 passes one you are 3/4 thru your tank...
-Tank seven- Go ahead and let it rip, you know you want to, don't exceed 260* and don't run it like you stole it, take it easy, set some cones up and weave thru them or around them.
Tank 8 thru a gallon, You can let the beast out, but don't go crazy till you got a good gallon on it. You should have to change your plug at least once by now... Good luck with your new engine and let er' RIP!!!

I have done this with 5 engines (2 were friends who are on there 8+ gallon mark and running strong), and 2 of them died at 12 gallons, the other is on its 12th but still running strong, with good compression!
Just though i would share my break in ways...
