hey everyone,

I'm a bit of a newbie I'm afraid but I know when something doesn't fit!!

I have a savage x running an LRP z.28r engine...........every rotostart kit i buy for it doesn't fit.

The gear that fits to the OWB is always way to small and the hole that the shaft goes through is also way too small.

The last kit i purchased is this LRP part number 38136

Does anyone have any info that might help me?

thanks

I thought that but the shaft is too thick for the hole in the plate. And the OWB still doesn't fit in the gear for starting. Confused?? I am lol

Did you follow the instructions? Some things transfer but some things have to be replaced. I'll have to get out my instructions to help you further.

One other question. Was your LRP originally a truggy engine (non pull start)? If so the rotostart will not work without modification.

No it's always been a pull start from new and only around a year or so old.

here are some pictures of the difference in size

its getting worse........I have been looking into this a bit more and now I cant even find a 17mm OWB with an 8mm diameter hole for the starter shaft or a standard pull start that will fit!!!!

I must either be looking in the wrong places or I'm just being thick lol

I see the problem now. You have the wrong engine for that rotostart setup. Atleast I assume so, I can't find much info on the engine you have.

Here is what you have, a LRP 32181:

The engine that backplate goes to is a LRP 32802:

I have no idea what the difference is. The only sites that list your engine is in another language.

Read again Jam. It says excludes sport engines.

Look at the picture of his head, it says sport on it.

Ya is so dirty I could not see that sorry and the pic you linked has the sticker covering it, so my bad......

Thanks for starting this thread dave! And to all the replies from X, Jam, rcnut!
I'll be getting a new engine for my x4.6 soon and the LRP was close to being decided upon. This thread helped with confirming which rotostart backplate is to be used for the 'non-sport' engine.
Just a quick check,....I can still re-use the stock HPI Flywheel and pilot nut with no issues? I'd probably get a new flywheel n nut, but wish to confirm before putting my order in from across the pond! Thanks in advance!

Yes at least the flywheel and related parts are interchangeable, but maybe spring for some alloy clutch shoes they hold and grab much better than stock ones do.....

cheers Jam! Alloy shoes will do!
I'd prob get a new flywheel in case the old one is stuck! Don't have a puller on hand...but you know...new engine...why not new parts!
