Hey guys, thanks for reading. Well I was out making some adjustments to the Savvy when I noticed it wasn't driving like normal, there was almost no power at the rear wheels. At first I thought it was the diff, but I tore it apart and it's fine. No abnormal wear or tear at all. I haven't had time to break down the tranny yet but I'm about certain thats the problem. I really wasn't driving hard but I cant figure out what else it might be, especially since I haven't broken it down yet.

Any help is greatly appreciated on what might be causing this and how to remedy it.

thanx all

Like Oregon said check the Grub screws also check to make sure the dogbones are all in place.

If it makes a grinding or kind of cracking/clunking sound the diff is shot.

I think it's a grub screw as well.
Most times when I had problems like that I always thought it was in the trans but it always turns out to be a grub or a diff.

I agree with the grub screws. In case you don't know where these are, they are the pins that hold the drive cups to the drive shafts on the trans and diffs.

well I'm officially perplexed. its not the tranny, everything inside was good. the grub screws are in place and tight, the rear diff is perfect inside and out. i'm going to put in a new diff and my other tranny just for grins. we'll see how that goes

thanks for the help guys, i'll let you know how it's going once this typhoon clears us

When you say the grubs are in place and tight-did you pull them out? They can appear to be there but are actually broke.

But more importantly stay safe from that Typhoon!!!!

yea i pulled them all the way out and checked em, they where fine. both on the tranny and on the diff. are there any grubs inside the tranny i should check? i just popped it open and looked for chipped or worn teeth on the gears.

Alright, i finally got the time to tear into that tranny and it looks like it was the 1 way bearing. I replaced it with the one from my spare tranny and now it's running great! Thanks for the help guys =D

Cen diffs all the way buddy. You can do it yourself if you ain't scared. I got Blazer X to make me some cause I'm lazy and he's already done it a few times. These diffs are bullet proof. Nitronut did a good thread. All you gotta do is drill out some HPI drive cups to fit the Cen pins and shim it up right.

Nitornut's Cen diff thread

Several options-One is to replace with standard parts and make sure they are shimmed correctly. This is where I'm am at and it took me several tries to get the mesh correct but once there they last pretty good you just have to keep servicing them and rechecking mesh. Two is to do the same with heavy duty/hardened gear set from HPI. Three is to modify a CEN gear set which is on my wish list.
There are several threads on this here already-CEN and diff shimming-let me know if you cant find them.
